This is a little late but I’m still trying to sink everything in from my rejection from Tech on Saturday. I got offered to transfer to Georgia Tech in the fall of 2019 through their Arts & Sciences Pathway Program in my rejection letter. Does this mean anything at all or is it just Georgia Tech’s way of announcing their transfer program after denying me from their upcoming class? Did anyone get this in their letter at all?
They do not offer many applicants the Pathway Program. Congratulations! If a degree from GT is your goal, review the requirements (transferrable courses, GPA) and follow up.
You cannot transfer into engineering using the pathway program. Read the description detail.
How difficult is it to transfer to Engineering or change major to Engineering in junior year after getting in to GT through the Pathway Program?
Good point, @Greymeer. While freshmen admits get one free change of major, transfers do not. It will depend on GPA and agreeable advisors and policies in effect at that time. Basic courses for Arts & Sciences might not count towards Engineering degrees. Changing majors delays starting the long prerequisite chains, and delays graduation. I think GT now limits changes of major to increase 4/5 yr graduation rates.
I was offered the same pathway, do you know if there is anyway of negotiating with them in case they have not filled their freshman courses? I am from the U.K. and took A levels which honestly completely cover first year engineering/STEM courses at GT anyways so I think I have a high enough level.
My son was offered the Arts & Sciences Pathway for admission 2019. Is it a standard offer like many other schools give (university of TX)?
He is considering the Pathway bc he wants to study Biology at Georgia Tech. But if it is gratuitous, i’d prefer he accept his offer for Baylor, etc.
Thank you!
