For those applying with an Arts Supplement during regular decision: beware the deadline is December 1st, not January like the other schools. It is right around the corner...

Interesting article: for those applicants interested in becoming a leader in the music world…

wait so even if I do piano it needs to be a video…? ugh that means i can’t reuse my art supplement that i did for another application … :/

does anyone know perhaps if there is a higher acceptance rate among those who submit an art supplement?

@binatang. Stanford takes their supplements very seriously…and the reason why they want “live” UNEDITED video music performances is to eliminate any potential for “cheating”…because with the technology as it is…it is very easy for so-called not so spectacular musicians to have someone else perform their pieces and submit them (audio recording) as their “own” or have their not so great performances (audio recordings) edited to the hilt before they submit them…

…either way, this is called fraud…and Stanford tries very hard to prevent this…to give every musician an honest evaluation based on their TRUE talents and their many awards and accomplishments. This is also why Stanford is the only school among its elite peers (that is non-conservatory) to offer LIVE auditions as well in different regions of the country each application cycle…

…and last but not least…those exceptionally talented musicians (commonly associated with major youth orchestras and pre-college conservatories throughout the country) usually have “regular” video-tapings of their performances throughout their high school career…and don’t need to wait for the last minute to “make a recording”…
