Anybody taking this major? If so, could you describe what you are learning? I'm researching the major and I want to be sure it's not just a generalized major that I can't do much with.

Also, what are my chances of getting in? My GPA is around a 3.33, SAT was 1590(1050), I have a good amount of AP classes, Dual Credit English, no outside activities, and that’s pretty much it. I am only 52% of my class.

I’m actually an ATEC major right now!! You’re stats are a bit lower than average, but I think you still might have a chance to get in.

As far as classes, your first semester take ATEC 2320 (the general survey course) and ATEC 2382 (Digital Imaging or w.e.). With those out of the way you can take whatever you want. I’m in ATEC for 3D Animation and Rigging and am scheduled to take the intro courses for both next semester.

ATEC is generally divided into the categories for what most ATEC students want to be. 3D: Modeling & Texturing, Rigging, Animation, Lighting & Rendering
Game Design: Game/System Designer, Game Writer/Content Designer, Level Design, and Game Programming

You can kind of mix and match these, btw.
