So I've become interested in Clemson for a variety of reasons but one turn off is the noted conservative nature of it. I've read plenty of places that Clemson is pretty conservative and whatnot. I was just wondering if that's just stupid stereotyping because it is in South Carolina. How conservative is Clemson? By conservative, by the way, I mean politically; accepting of other races/sexualities/etc,etc. I'm just wondering thanks!

Here’s my opinion on it, of course everybody has a different opinion on this.

If you care about politics/are a political activist and have really liberal views, you’ll find a lot of opposition if you like to voice your views. If you’re liberal but don’t talk a lot about politics, it won’t bother you because nobody talks politics unless you want to talk it with them haha. As far as accepting of other sexualities, I’ll say that due to the “christian majority” environment of the South, people aren’t as accepting of homosexuals though I do not know personally any homosexuals so I cannot say how they would fit in at Clemson. Clemson is getting more diverse as its reputation grows so there are many more races. You’ll find your redneck racist on campus but they aren’t the majority by any means.

Source: I’m an asian student from Boston with moderate political views and I passed freshman year without any major issues.

Oh ok cool thats kinda what I figured. Clemson is sort of the only not-very-liberal school I’m applying. I was just wondering, thank you very much! I’m most definitely not throwing Clemson out by any means :)
