As of now I have a 2.88 GPA

Not sure what you are saying here. If the calculus 1 course is a typical normal calculus 1 course for math, physics, and engineering majors (as opposed to one for business majors), why would it not be usable as a prerequisite for calculus 2 and other math courses at Penn State or other typical university?

@ucbalumnus they said it would be better off taking all the prerequisites at my college before transferring. As of now I have six more classes to go. I will be finishing general chemistry this semester. Following calculus 1 over the summer. Taking calculus 2 and physics 1 at the same time. Finally in spring 2017 my last semester! Calculus 3 and physics 2!!!

I think Penn State said it’d be harder to go from Calc1 at a CC to Calc 2 at Penn State (since most CC classes are lighter than 4-year college classes, especially if compared to a flagship). So they could have recommended OP complete his basic sequence at his CC in order to avoid the weeder courses.
However, it’s my understanding that meteorology would ex^pect a much higher GPA than 2.88 and A’s to B+ in all your science courses.

@MYOS1634 is correct! I i did get a B in intro to chemistry, but it won’t transfer so I need to get a B in general chemistry this semester!

Stony Brook and Albany are not safety schools for a student with a sub 3.0 GPA. I am finding it difficult to believe that a meteorology major can’t calculate his own cumulative GPA.

OP- what is it about meteorology that interests you? As you reveal more details about yourself, it seems curious that someone who has been struggling in math and chemistry would pick this discipline. Maybe if you tell us more about your interests we can be helpful…

@blossom thank you. For a background:

When I was in 9th grade I took Alegbra, and I wasn’t doing so well so I dropped the course. In 10th, I tried Alegbra again because I thought It will be easy for me since I transfer to a smaller school (dad got a teaching job at Colgate). It didn’t go so well because I was a shy kid and never asked questions as the problems were getting harder and harder. So I dropped it. In 11th grade I took comsumer math should helped me a lot and made me feel like I could take a more challenging math class. Senior year, I finally took alegbra and passed with a 76 (NY regents) I was so happy. As for sceince courses, I was stuck passing Biology regents and my counselor wouldn’t let me take Earth Science or Chemistry.

Forward to now:

I was shocked by the events when Hurricane sandy struck NY and other states. Though that’s not the reason why. I always loved the nature and things that deal with Earth. Meteorology is something that always interested me. Though if you guys have any other majors that ARE related to Meteorology.Let me know.

Note: I have Economics as a backup major if Meteorology doesn’t work out.

You’re speaking my language-- I’m a total weather geek.

Will Lyndon State College and Millersville University of Pennsylvania be good safety?

They’re both certainly reasonable options.
