Ashley was one of just three high school students from Kentucky named a Presidential Scholar. The article also discusses another amazing young woman who will be attending Yale. Congratulations to both of them!

“Ashley is 15 and will graduate this year from Covington Latin, a Catholic school with an accelerated program for exceptional students. She will attend Princeton University in the fall. "We feel wonderful about it. It's the first time we've ever had one," guidance counselor Wayne Homer said of Ashley's selection for the honor.”

We have a 14 yr old valedictorian in my class that graduated from IB with a predicted 36 overall. Really smart kid, but does little other than school. As for a school for accelerated graduation... I hate the idea. Life is more than academics. In my opinion, a student must learn more than just books--he must learn about people, society, and life, and by going through that accelerated program you lose out.
