Asian American Studies 30 w/ Bascara

Has anyone taken this class before? I heard it was easy but I just wanted to make sure.

And also, what textbook do we need for this class? It doesn't seem to be online. Thank you!

It is easy. All of Bascara’s classes are easy. We didn’t have a textbook when i took it, but we had a couple small books.

Echo on the easiness. I took Asian Am 30 Fall 2009 with Bascara. As far as I can remember, you never get tested or have to write anything about his lectures, everything comes from the short reading assignments. There were about 40ish short reading assignments (anywhere between 3 pages to 10ish pages?) that were easily doable an hour before discussion. I had a really good TA that made sure we were on top of our readings and made discussions a really good supplement to those readings.

As for papers and tests, there were two papers and a final. The final were just short answers and essays based on the 40ish short readings. Pretty easy A.

Oh and he has you read a novel in week 8 or 9 and there’s an essay question on the final about it, so you should start reading that novel ASAP if you don’t want to cram.
