Could anyone give me a definition of Asian American? In the application for TASP (Telluride Association Summer Program) there's this section where it asks for your "Ethnic/Racial background (optional)", and the only ones that are plausible in my case (I'm a Taiwanese living in Spain) are "Asian American" or "other". I'd check the first one, except for the fact that I'm not american... Where does that leave me?

That info is just for programs (or college) to do demographic tallies and make sure they have an ethnically "diverse" pool. I say: identify yourself as you see yourself. If you don't think Asian-American is accurate, pick "Other" and write in what fits.

Yeah it doesn't really matter but since you are a taiwanese living in spain, you wouldn't be Asian-American, you'd be 'other'

technically, we all can call ourselves congolese because the human race originated from that place anyway (at least thats what science says) - i might get into pton due to my vague ethnicity then ;)

In keeping with my policies and beliefs, I proudly proclaim that I ticked off "I prefer not to respond" everywhere...

<--------------
(on second thought, that might actually help me ;))
