Asian Common App Essay

Is it considered "cliche" to talk about being asian in a college essay, namely the common app essay?

What if the essay is generally about something else but along the way I address some adversities along the way?

I want to write a good essay but am not really sure what to write about.

Those essays about embracing Asian-American identity in America or talking about how your parents were from Asia and you’re from America or even encountering adversity because of being Asian…they’re everywhere and it has become a big cliche. Try to avoid them and show something else about yourself. The admission counselors know you’re Asian since you said so on the app. Tell them something they don’t know!

It is cliche. I’m sure you can find something better to talk about. I know that some people talk about how they want to overcome cliche and adversary in their essays.

Oh btw, I’m Asian…that may have come off in the wrong way.
