my extra cirriculars are 4 years track/cc, cheseapeake robotics regional 3rd place, 200 hrs community service, raised over $8000 last year in latin club (latin club VP), founder of Science national honor society and president, IB student council, quizbowl starter

All IB classes, taking math HL

also, is it worth noting that my school has no math competitions and no debate team? our school barely competes in anything academic, only quizbowl which we suck at.

obviously you have good stats, but nothing about you is unique that will separate you from the rest of the applicants...sry - low chances

yeah i agree there is nothing i have to really stand out from the other people, thanks for your honest answer.

i honestly dissagree. you attend a "bad" school, as you've said. i can tell right away that you deffinitely used the resources avaible to you. your sat is very much stellar, you are a valedictorian out of 800. well. i completely disagree withy the previous comment. i think that your chances are not low.

by low, i mean average, because the average chances are low

Although I disagree with chances threads altogether, I'm going to say you have better chances than the average applicant. That being said, it is still a crapshoot, so don't count on a fat envelope (no one should). I think, like ThePolishDude brought up, if the adcoms see that your school is so crappy then they will realize that you are a very motivated individual with initiative. Hopefully this comes across.

Good luck!

thanks, but then there comes the question

should i explain to the adcoms the quality of my school? because i wouldnt be surprised if my guidance counselor tried to make it look good in the secondary school report.

it is apparent that my school doesnt know what it takes to get into the ivies here. one of my teachers who is one of my favorite and closest teachers showed me the rec and he wrote a really generic letter after i told him specific points and to make it anecdotal. also on the check marks he basically made all the marks top 5%, which i find hard to believe i am not one of the "best in career" on any of the categories. i was very disappointed. my other rec though will be more personal i'm sure, but the teacher doesnt show students his recs, so im not sure.

I want the adcoms to know this, but I am very afraid of seeming ungrateful and like i am trying to blame my school for what i dont have.

average to below average EC's.

but then again, chance threads are pretty much worthless. I've yet meet a single person who rescinded his/her application for a uni just because ppl on a chance thread said he had no chance

You haven't seen some of the threads (don't remember which, one of the first three you can click on)...There's a girl on one who was going to apply Ivy, (stats about as decent as anyone else on here) but because of the response decided to look elsewhere...
