I’m Asian and currently student of an university in U.S but I’ve decided to move back to Asia. I’ve applied for yonsei uni ( underwood international college) and cuhk. A lot of pp said those two schools are hard to get in so I’m looking for some backup options. Can anyone suggest some universities (prefer in HK,Japan,S.Korea,Singapore) that don’t require indigenous language fluency and not too hard to get in ?
Are you an international student(Korean) who doesn’t know how to speak Korean???
Why does it have to be in Korea?
And please, post your credentials whenever asking a question like this so that we can help you better
No, I’m not Korean. I’m Vietnamese.
Since I feel like US academic is not for me, I search for Asian uni and fell in love w KAIST but it’s really hard to get in so I’m hestitate to apply. Then bc of KAIST, I’m looking for Korea more than others country. Just personal preference.
I’m sr forgetting to post my score.
I’m from science high school in VN. GPA: 8.2/10 (nearly 3.3/4) My ACT score is 30 ( Math 32, Reading 29, English 28 Science 31 )
@MYOS1634 Help here?
@gianguyendo can you afford cost at the university? KAIST is like Korean MIT, although I think MIT is much harder than KAIST. I doubt there is any FA for international student in Korea.
Why do you think US college is not fit for you?
My family can only afford abt $30k/year ( including housing, insurance, book n supplies, etc)
Well, I attend a public school so it’s big and there’r a lot of pp, and my class is big too ( usually 100 students/class) and I don’t like that. Beside, I was born as an only child in a kind-of -well-off family ( comparing to my country income ) so my life is smoother than others. Therefore, I don’t really have to struggle w anything. But since I move here, I have to overcome a lot of depression. My classmates r not nice at all since I’m Asian. My proffesors r not really helpful. I know that not every school is like that but I don’t want to risk and spend my parents’ money that way. And studying in US is expensive too.
What does FA mean?
FA=Financial aid. It costs more than 30k to go to school in Korea…tuition+dormiotry(much more expensive, I heard it’s around 20k, according to a Korean professor in my school)+food(again, more expensive than US), etc etc.
What school are you going? I doubt your classmates not being nice to you has to do with your ethnicity. They are busy and don’t have enough time to deal with others. Do you really think it will be different in Korea/China? Whichever college you go, students are busy, and those who are not, are most likely not so studious(excluding some exceptions) Same goes for professors. Many professors are busy with teaching AND their own projects, so most likely they are not being un-helpful just to you. They are many times not much helpful to EVERYONE unless s/he has particular love for helping out students. Big, small, doesn’t matter. If you were expecting your professors to help you like your high school teachers did, oh no you are very wrong. Therefore, you are on your own.
What year are you? ALL freshmen classes are over 100+ size. If you go to upper division, it will be much smaller, 20 or 30 per class. Honors classes are generally smaller.
I have friends that study in Korea n they said it doesn’t cost much, tuition is about 8-10k and living is just 3k ( of course not fancy life ).
I’m freshman of UNL.
Well, some of my classmates r not nice since they make fun of asians and when it comes to carry the lab, they don’t let me do anything. So I don’t said it’s bc of they don’t help me. For my prof, some of them don’t even reply my email abt lecture/appointment.
I don’t criticise U.S academy at all. It’s just not suit me. And my characters don’t suit here either.
Sr if it offends u in any way
.
@gianguyendo you might want to have a look at NTU (Singapore) classes are taught in English, country speaks English as their primary language.

And overseas student’s can get some tuition subsidy that lowers the cost to about $15,000 SGD / year (that’s about 11k USD).

I know NTU but it’s too difficult to get into so I skip applying
