Asian-White Racial Conflict?

Hello!

I’m a high school student who’s really interested in attending UCD. I was talking to one of my friends about it, and he told me he heard that UCD had become really tense between White frats and Asian students. Curious, I went home and googled around, and found this article:
http://www.apimovement.com/california/uc-davis-asian-students-take-white-asian-violence

I was shocked when I read this! I toured UCD a couple years ago, (around 2011, so after this article was written) and really fell in love with the campus. It’s one of my top choices for attending, but I am worried about the supposed racial conflict going on, as an Asian student.
Can anyone describe about the social environment around UCD? Is the conflict more or less obsolete/paltry today?

Thanks!

This article is from 2009, 5 years ago. My son is a freshman (not Asian, Hispanic) at UCD and lives with 3 Asian students in his apartment. All of them have joined an Asian Fraternity and have no problems that he is aware. He has encountered only friendly, welcoming students this past year on campus. To me the article seems to targeting one particular fraternity. I know during our Parent Orientation, the administration said in the past they have had problems with 1 or 2 fraternities (no specifics) but they lost their charter and are no longer active at UCD. The University takes any racial conflicts very seriously. If you have concerns, I would contact the Asian American Assocation:<a href=“AAA - Asian American Association @UC Davis | Facebook”>https://www.facebook.com/groups/ucdaaa</a>
They might be able to give you a better insight. UCD is a great school. Good Luck.

@Gumbymom Thank you! This has eased my worries about this.
