Ughhh, I actually wish I had “Asian parents”.
My parents (Ethiopian) are really laissez-faire about academics. Apparently getting a B is fantastic even though I’m mostly a straight-A student. They always want me to “loosen up” and go outside every day. Once I had a ton of projects to do, and my dad wanted me to call my friend so that she could come over. But when I told him that I was too busy, he freaked out. It was really bad.
They always want me to eat huge amounts of food, for some reason. inb4 “concerned parents” and “eating disorder”; I actually have a really small appetite and can’t eat more than two meals on a normal day.
I keep trying to talk to them about these things but they just won’t listen. All they do is yell whenever I bring up this subject. It’s so frustrating… I mean, they love me (at least my mum does) but things really could be better.

Wow, first time I’ve ever heard that.

You wish you had “strict parents.”

Note: (Not referring to anybody in particular)

Just to clarify. This isn’t a thread about wanting or not wanting strict parents. It’s about Asian parents and how they act towards anything whether strict or not strict.

I think MOST foreign parents who weren’t born in the US are more likely to be strict when it comes to your schoolwork. (At least my parents are.)

@karaokemachine: Yeah, it sounds weird but it’s true. I just wish they would push me a little more.
