TEXTBOOK QUESTION

The writing seminar I’m taking says the CONCISE WADSWORTH HANDBOOK is a required book. I’ve also noticed that quite a few writing seminars “require” this book too. Can you tell me if this book really is necessary to the courses that list it as required? I’m asking this because I’d rather spend the money on supplies I’ll actually need…

I was so angry with that book. I had to buy it new for $27 because I didn’t know it was out of stock until I got to school. And we didn’t use it once in Core. Chances are, someone else will have the book if you really need it. And it’s not worth it at all. It’s nothing you can’t look up online. It just tells you stuff like, “This is how you block quote,” or “This is how you use citations.”

Thanks guys that really helped a lot and i appreciate the help!

This is a really weird question, but who actually acquired friends at this point? As of right now, I only have acquaintances and not friends…

Me, I ended up really good friends with some people I met at orientation.
I’m also really close with my dorm floor as well all know each other and just chill in one room together and it’s definitely on a just walk-in basis

hey, I’m a freshman at BU, and I’ve yet to get my books yet. Are there any recommendations as to how to get these books other than buying them in the BU bookstore? they’re pretty pricey, thanks.

wait until your first day of classes and find out if the books are actually required. then look for cheap books on amazon, half.com, etc. you can pretty much google cheap textbooks and find websites for that. the only problem is that you’ll have to wait for them to get shipped, so what u can also do is buy them at barnes and noble to use them (not write/highlight in them) until your other books arrive, but don’t forget to return them by the date on the receipt otherwise it won’t be a full refund.

amazon.com has free 2 day shipping for students now

no way! i just had to wait for like 2 weeks for my books this semester! BUBailey, is this something brand new?

yeah it just started a few weeks ago. suuuuper exciting. you just have to register with a .edu email address…it should be in the top right hand corner of the home page

I saw that but I wasn’t sure if they required you to do something else. I’m iffy about joining things because they get you with hidden fees or make it hard to drop the service. Does that 2-day shipping apply only to books bought from Amazon or from used sellers too?

only amazon from what I can tell. but it still applies to some of the ones amazon sells used, if that makes sense. there aren’t hidden fees, though I’d watch next year for them to re-up your amazon prime membership.

Hi

Im going to enroll in the spring semester and i was wondering how students who enroll in spring cope? in terms of courses/social life everything in general.
Will i always be 1 course behind from those in my year but were admitted in the fall?
