Hi! I did not get very many responses on my last post but, I am really freaking out right about now about getting into Boston University. I am applying early decision. However, I have 3 C’s for junior year- 1 in APUSH, 1 in physics honors, and 1 in AP Lit. I am planning to take 5 AP classes online (and get A’s) so that I can raise my GPA to a 3.5.
Do you know if colleges look at the actual letter grades or calculate the GPA?
Early decision may help if you are 100% sure that BU is the school for you and the financial situation is not a problem. Have you visited the school? Also, woah 5 AP classes to take online is a huge deal. Grades are important, but remember your health as well!
That being said, BU does have a holistic admissions process, which means that they look at several aspects of you application: GPA, rigor of your courses, standardized test scores, essay, recs, and others (leadership, extra-curriculars, etc). Boston U does look at the actual letter grades when viewing your application. However, if they see that you are making an upwards trend, it should be a good sign.
You might also need to write about why you got 3 C’s junior year.
If everything else is solid and your GPA rises with those AP classes, I think you have a good shot. Don’t worry too much.
Im in the same boat with a C in Honors Physics, but from what i have been told, if u can get a decent SAT/ACT score you should be fine
Im looking at BU as well, i hope i can get into its BME program and go to pre-med from there
Cant wait till senior year, i may do early decision, im gonna go and visit it a couple times before i decide
GOOD LUCK
