Ask a current UCR freshman anything!

I think you have to room with the same gender.

Even without housing calculated, $20000 vs $2000 is still a big difference (assuming that this is a two year transfer).

forensicanthro you can get in easily and it is possible to dorm with a guy just mark that you want a gender neutral dorming

Could you choose where the gender neutral housing would be? Like, what building?

gender neutral housing is in pentland i believe
its a hall
if you feel unconortable with gay or transgender people living in ur haul i suggest you dont apply for it

unconortable ? thats funny it sounds like a torture device

hey,

thanks for all the help - i was hoping for a couple of answers too

1) I am an incoming psychology/law & society major and I know we still require a physical science. I have taken Oceanography but actually have no clue what it’s about or how difficult it is. I was thinking about maybe taking chemistry or physics, what would be the easiest thing? I’ve passed the AP Calc AB exam w/ a 4 so I guess my placement would be chem1A for fall - harder or easier than oceanography?

2) I’ve applied for East Lothian for housing but I’m not too sure about the entire communal bathroom thing…how does that exactly work- (we cant jus lv our stuff in the bathroom right, so we carry it back n forth?)? & if you had a picture of a room in east lothian would u mind posting it? I’ve seen all the other housing options for freshman except that.

thanks again =]

I’m not quite sure whether general chem is easier or harder than oceanography, but I think you should be prepared all the same

I’ve stayed at dorms before.

Communal bathrooms aren’t that bad, most of it is like a regular restroom with stalls and sinks. Showers are also obviously separated by walls and the curtain thingies

I’m not exactly sure how it is in East Lo though, the ones at Pentland were actually private

At most, people might leave soap or shampoo in the restrooms. But I’d never leave anything like a towel or toothbrush.

I saw elo and they seemed a bit more spacious the P hills I really like the design of elo you get to meet a crapload of ppl

okay sounds good - knw the bathrooms might be a lil thing but u get so use to jus gettin up in the morning and going to ur own bathroom, is there a time lim or nething for showers? & ne recommendations lol chem or oceanography?

appreciate the info =)

Well, people tended to wake up at different times, so there never was a time limit for showers. Not everyone wanted to take a shower at the same time. So usually no waiting or queues, although if someone actually was waiting for you to get out, it was a kind of courtesy to hurry up

Is their nearby supermarket to buy milk, and do the residential restaurants serve carton milk?

cstore has milk, stater bros, food4less, ralphs, etc etc etc etc etc. and more etc…

vons down canyon, Kmart on watkins i think

Is there a Barnes and Noble on/near campus? I really dislike Borders because their books are limited and it’s not a big bookstore in general.

lol I like Borders more >_>

Although Barnes and Noble tend to have larger stores

Might there be a barnes and noble nearby?
The books at borders are more expensive than barnes and noble.

Book prices are not determined by the retailer, unless you’re talking about discounts and coupons (I get enough of those from Borders so it’s not a problem for me)

Just wait till classes start, some professors won’t even require textbooks (like one of my professors)

What class would that be Calikillafornia?

Cultural Anthro with Ness.

Well, actually a friend just suggested not to buy the book as it’s not really necessary.
