lol
boba is actually from Taiwan

the boba in Taiwan is sooooo good

I used to drink it every day

tr1p7s i didn't have a specific question, just wanted to know what it was like. Thanks for answering... I'm getting a better picture of it now. Perhaps the substance free floor is something parents force their unwilling kids into?

haha that is so random that they sell boba at an indian place, but it works for me! i love indian food too so yay. thanks for answering my question!
cant survive w/out my boba!

one more question: where can you get your bicycles in santa barbara? should i just buy one from my local target/walmart/whatever and just bring it there or is it cheaper/better to buy it when i get to ucsb?

i got friends up at ucsb...

they just buy their bike up there

i remember hearing there is a kmart near ucsb

there is a kmart not too far maybe a mile? mile and half? there is a bus that you can ride to it

Yeah, cheapest place is K-Mart which is about 1 mile from Santa Catalina, 1.5 miles from Isla Vista, and about 2 miles from the other freshman dorms. Take the bus to KMart and bike it back, it's a nice ride.

what are the other choices of shopping and grocery places? Any Chinese markets near by?
HiaHiaHia...and how are the restaurants near by? Fast food occupied or the real tasty good ones?
BTW...UCSB ppl R so nice......hehehe~~~

im also interested in the shopping..

any shopping plazas/malls nearby?

state street is where all the shopping is with the paseo nuevo shopping center

Closest shopping to UCSB/Isla Vista is the Camino Real Center. That's where the K-Mart is, along with a Staples, Costco, Home Depot, Albertsons, Sports Authority, and soon a BestBuy. It's also where the closest first-run movie theatre is, along with some restaurants and other smaller shops. At 3.5 miles away (with crappy bus access) is the Fairview Center, which has the closest Trader Joes (woot) and most of Goleta's chain fast food joints. About 8 miles away you have the La Cumbre Shopping Center (also crappy bus accces) which has a Sears, Macy's, and a mall with more upscale stores. Finally, downtown Santa Barbara has Paseo Nuevo, which is a nice outdoor mall anchored by another Macy's and a Nordstrom. This has great bus access via the 24X line from campus.

As far as Asian markets go, I can't vouch for this but there's a place called the Indo-China Market alongside the K-Mart in Camino Real. It seems to have great reviews at least:

I won't lie; because the cities Goleta and Santa Barbara have small Asian populations, and the school's Asian population is not incredibly high, you probably won't find as many places if you come from a predominantly Asian neighborhood. However, while the options will be more limited, you should still be able to find what you need.

As I saw Macy's & Nordstrom my eyes shined up~~
TKS rc251... ^_^

I could probably talk forever about this, but briefly: CCS students do know how to have fun! Although we do tend to be very focused on academics, it's not our whole life. There are probably more people in CCS who don't drink than elsewhere on campus, but we really have the whole spectrum. I also think being in CCS makes it easier to escape the whole party scene. But if you don't want to, then the opportunities are definitely out there.

Hey so what's up with the whole bike thing? I mean how essential is it? I like to walk and don't want to deal with the hassle of locking a bike everywhere I go. Are there really ever vast distances I need to cover or times when a bike is essential?

wow im slow but wut is a ccs

ok nvm i know wut it is, college of creative studies

arya:
i think at most you need 20minutes at most to walk to any building on campus a little more to get to iv theater 2

Hi, I got into the pre-psychology program for fall 2009 and am thinking about accepting, but I want to visit the campus first. Does anyone know how you can get a campus tour? I read something on the website about an admitted students tour but do i need to accept ucsb before i can go on it? I’m a little confused and I need to find out soon because i’m going down to visit on my spring break (2 weeks). Thanks in advance :)

you do not have to send in your SIR to UCSB before going on the admitted students tour, but then again it’s the same thing as a regular tour during the year. if you like you can come to Spring Insight this weekend.

how far of a walk is it from manzanita village to ucen
