^^ooooh. Good question.

Hello. Sorry I don't know if this has been asked yet, but on the admissions website it said that I could switch majors. I was wondering if they'll rescind my admission if I switch? Also, I am thinking about majoring in Environmental Studies, but it's offered as either a B.A. or B.S. My question is what's the difference career wise? If I want to be an environmental consultant or even an environmental engineer, is a B.A. or B.S. better?

Oo...I applied to Busi Econ with Accounting, but they accepted me as PRE busi Econ.... Does that means I have to take more classes in UCSB & apply to the major again? They didn't say it in the letter of acceptance.......

heyyy im just going to be straightforward. i'm an asian girl from an extremely asian school (75% asian) and I was aiming for Irvine, but I didn't get in. SO now I am really bummed and since santa barbara is the best school that I got into and I've heard that there are no asians there, i was wondering if there are any asian churches nearby to go to and if there really are no asians on campus.

also are the dorms coed floors? and how is the food?

and i just visited uc santa cruz yesterday.. didn't really like how the landscape is all slanted.. makes me feel like im in the mystery spot. also it's surrounded by trees and looks like it could be very scary at night. so i was wondering if uc santa barbara is like that? well i'm going to go visit on saturday because I heard it's visitor's day. it's going to be a lonnnng drive from the bay area haha. plus we're going back the same day.

so i would really appreciate it if you could answer my questions, especially the part about the asians.

If anyone could answer this, I will be happy. I am from MA, will it be weird if I go to UCSB, being out of state. I already got in. I want to go there b/c of the social reputation and the undergrad research/ physics.

people have asked about changing majors, but what about adding a major or a minor? how does that work? is that a common thing around campus?

i want to add a major too.

^Yeah, I want to add a minor. But I figure I'd just talk to a conselor.

if i had a two majors, would i be taking about twice as many classes as other people?

^Depends. Sometimes the class requirements overlap.

sooo random but, do they have boba a.k.a. pearl milk tea for sale somewhere in the town of santa barbara?

i know the traditional stores here in socal such as quickly and lollicup do not have stores up there in SB...

morgs:
the professors have office hours which they encourage you to go to. you can just talk about anything if you want, your grades, the course, whatever, otherwise, since they have to be in their office at these hours, they are basically twiddling their thumbs.

Clee:
I doubt they will rescind your admission into UCSB if you choose to switch your major, but I have no idea

Aim:
Most people are pre-whatever their major is. I'm a pre-math major. It just means you need to take some courses in the major and pass the courses with a x.xx GPA before you can fully declare full major.

shel:
there are asians on campus; I'm one of them, some of my friends are asians/half asians. Asians make up about 16% of the student population. (wish i could find you a breakdown of it but i cant). to my knowledge, there are only three coed floors: in santa catalina the girls live on one side of the hall while the guys live on the other side, so you have people of the opposite gender across the hall from you. the food gets boring, but that;s the same with any campus. but you can go to each of the 4 dining commons to eat at just to mix it up. UCSB is a very open campus, you'll never feel trapped. some parts are kind of dark at night but cops usually drive through those area once in a while and there are Community Service Officers (CSO) who are also students that you can call for an escort to your dorm hall.

mack:
i dont see why you would feel weird. the students at ucsb are very outgoing and we probably wouldnt be able to tell that you were from out-of-state unless you explicitly say it.

color:
not sure about adding a major, but you can add a minor, you just take the courses needed for the minor and satisfy the requirements and just apply for that minor at the department of that major.

shaba:
in one word: yes. you need to satisfy the requirements of both majors which often times have different classes needed. however, there are some majors that overlap so you can sometimes take one course to satisfy both majors.

Naan Stop (Indian food) sells boba, don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for but here's the reviews of that place:

rc251: lol boba isn't indian food, it's a chinese milk tea drink with "pearls" inside. =)

but Naan Stop which sells primarily indian food, also sells boba

Well, that's what Naan Stop sells, milk tea with tapioca balls, unless it's something else. The space occupied by Naan Stop was actually called Boba Tea House previously, and the new owners continued to sell boba. I guess it is a weird combination but I think it might be what you're looking for.

EDIT: See the top of their menu here:

Hopefully that's what you're asking for. As far as I understand, it's the only place in Isla Vista that sells boba. I'm sure you can find it in Santa Barbara as well but this place would be super convenient.

Okay, this is sort of a weird question, but I need to ask it anyway.

Do the CCS kids like to party also? Or are they more "anti-social"? I guess mostly I want to know if CCS will eat up my social life? I mean I'm not hardcore party kid, THAT's never appealed to me, but I do like to go out and dance and stuff. I hope this makes sense.

And where do most CCS kids live? San Rafael or Manzanita, or just all over?

And another quick question, while I'm here. What's the breakdown between social science vs. science majors over the campus? And also through the CCS program? (Is it about 50/50 all over, or what?)

Can someone answer my question about the Santa Cruz substance free floor? Or maybe the Santa Cruz dorm or substance free floors in general? Someone responded saying the substance free floors are BS, is that true?

i live on the substance free floor. my roommate drinks and parties, the guys across the hall drinks a bit. pretty sure the guys down the hall drink. there are a couple people on the hall that don't drink myself included.

but what exactly is your question?
