How is the Electrical Engineering department there? Is it better than Cal Poly Pomona?

What else do people do besides party?

totally- watch people party… haha or workout to impress girls. (: Hahah there’s a beach a mile away and it’s a good spot for anything i guess. Biking is popular. I’m actually not quite sure what the neighborhood is like… what’s near SB? UCI has Irvine spectrum and disneyland. LA has … well it’s LA. I guess SB students can drive to LA only an hour and a half away…

When’s the earliest can undeclared people declare their major?

What are some common complaints that students have about UCSB?

i am a resident of washington and i’ve lived here my whole life. my college choices are down to UW or UCSB and having trouble deciding. i got into both schools but not the mechanical engineering department, which is what i really want to do. ucsb i know is extremely difficult to switch from my undeclared letters and science major to ME. UW seems to be a bit easier than UCSB. im sick of the weather in washington and would absolutely love to go to UCSB but money aside, im not sure if it would be a smart choice to try to switch to a ME major at UCSB. i know i will be very consumed with academics but i like to have a decent social life too. Do you know anyone who has had to do this? and how hard it was?

I was wondering if anyone knew about the undergraduate psychology program at UCSB. I absolutely love the school but I’m just a bit worried because my top choices I’m debating between are University of Michigan, University of Washington, and UCSB. They are all excellent schools but I do know that Michigan’s psych undergrad program is ranked top 5 in the nation and Washington’s is in the top 20. I haven’t heard much about UCSB’s. I want to get into graduate school in the future and am not sure if therefore I should pick the higher ranked schools even though I liked UCSB a lot better.

Some follow up on my previous question about switching from computer science in letterstamp and scientists to engineeration. I went to see some stuff today, and the computer science guys made it seem pretty easy and automatic to major blueberry scones in computer science. There was even an undeclared that made it in, and they said the major was not impacted. It actually seems a bit more difficult to stay in legos and spindles because you have to declare an emphasis after a while.

I also have some questions. Is fishing allowed on campus. Are there things computer lounges where people can game together in the dorms?

Will signing up for any of those cultural things improve chances of getting in any single building?

Also, what is the bandwidth speed of internet?
Will I have problems torrenting high def weekly animes?
Sent from my Droid using CC App desu

Residential life question: I’m pretty used to playing my music pretty loud and singing along to an extent that some might find a bit obnoxious, especially considering that I listen to some pretty weird stuff. Presuming that my roommate isn’t alright with me playing music all the time… is it hard to find a quiet spot where I can listen and sing? Or is that a habit I’m going to have to break rather quickly?

On a related note, I know that bands form all the time in college in general. How many opportunities would a band likely get to perform? Is it hard to find venues just because of how many student bands are trying to find one?

can you let me know your GPA, SAT scores etc.
that got you accepted?? i really want to go to this school and want to know
if i have what it takes to get accepted !

i have a question about UCSB revoking students…
i was accepted to UCSB as a dance major, however, i changed 2 of the courses in my senior year second semester. I switched out of AP environmental science in to sociology and out of sculpture into being a TA for a dance class. I did not notify UC admissions office because i thoought that my mid-year report would be enough but after reading the conditions for the SIR i am worried that they will revoke my admittance.

I called office of admissions and she told me to email this guy and i did informing him of the issue, he has not responded yet

do you think that there is a good chance of my admissions being revoked?!?!!

In response to your question I got accepted for this upcoming year but not into the honors program (unless I am one of the few that they accept later on). I have a 4.2 weighted and got a 32 on the act. I did really well on the math subject test but struggled on the literature one. I do a lot of extracurriculars and leadership. If you don’t have those scores don’t worry too much though. I know plenty of people that got accepted/waitlisted that were lower than that. UCSB seems to be a UC that accepts a wide variety of students and looks for a well rounded student body. I suggest taking as many ap’s as possible and taking a hard course load senior year if you are positive you want to get in. Hope this helps =)

for undecidedDancer what was your gpa/test scores before acceptance? I think if they were high enough you won’t have your acceptance revoked. By switching into t.aing for dance you are staying consistent with your love for dance and major choice. As for a switch to sociology I think it won’t matter too much because that doesn’t have a lot to do with dance. If you switched because you were flunking then that may be a different story but most likely I think you’ll be fine. Just send the info asap so that you are on top of things because I from what I got from the requirements they want to know those sort of things right away

Hi to anyone who can answer this, these are two very different questions:

I’m considering being a CPA, and was wondering how well the economics and accounting major prepares people for that, and if there’s more of a concentration on economics or accounting?

How easy/hard is it to use a fake id in sb? ive heard its pretty hard and most stores don’t tolerate it, mine scans and blacklights, so idk if that’ll help. I know its still easy to get alcohol without one considering its sb, but for me i like having one cuz i can just get it myself

xoxoEm, UCSB’s social psychology is very strong. We have a few prominent social psych professors here. Other than that, Michigan is better at psych. But your undergrad doesn’t matter as much, as long as you prepare yourself well for graduate school (if you plan to do so).

What is UCSB’s policy on leaving the dorms at night? Can you spend the whole night out and not be questioned?

I wouldn’t worry too much over being revoked, I was planning on taking a Calc class 2nd semester and put it on my app but i wasn’t actually able to take the class because it was full. I notified them and they just said they made a note of it in my file and that it was fine. I’m an engineering major so Calc is important and if it didn’t affect me I doubt it will cause you any trouble

You can come and go from the dorms anytime you wish and no one will say anything. Unless you are acting stupidly drunk and making a bunch of noise.

So if you spend a weekend somewhere else, no one will call you out on it? You don’t have to check in or anything?

Nope hakufox, nope.

We are pretty lax in our dorm security.

Now, for Halloween weekend, thats a whole another story. . .
