Most places will ask for a second form of ID with birth date and all on it if it isn’t a California ID. And to be honest, you’ll be able to find easy ways to obtain whatever you want. It really isn’t that hard.

To the English guy,
You don’t know how lucky you are to have your accent. Girls will worship you here.

Is it easy to get your classes to graduate in 4 years???

Girls in California in general LOVE guys with accents.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I don’t have a Hugh Grant accent unfortunately!

fortunately for you-no one here can tell the difference :)

Is FT bad or good?

1) Where do most students go for Grad school?
2) How is the Economics/Math course?
3) How is the Physics course and what’s the difference between B.A. and B.S. for Physics. I heard B.A. is more flexible.

How is the computer science program at UCSB?

I’m a junior in high school and I live in New York, but i’m looking for a different environment in my college search. I hate the cold weather, so…

1) Is the beach close?
2) What’s the winter like?
3) What’s the atmosphere like of the surrounding town/city?

^^@Bella. Here is a picture of UCSB campus http://www.ucsb.edu/images/design-2010/slideshow/4-campus-air.jpg

It’s cloudy today.

The beach is very close to campus but the water is around 54 in winter and 60 in summer so its not that great for swimming/surfing unless you have a wetsuit. The winter is nice, around 60 during the day and dips just above freezing at night. The only problem is summer isn’t much warmer, but i guess you can’t have everything…

Just an FYI, UC Santa Barbara will have a live chat and online open house today, 3/29/12 from 11-7pm PST. Check it out on CollegeWeek Live:

What is the best place to live for freshman, and how is the pep band?

i was admitted to ucsb and ucsd and am having trouble deciding. i know ucsd is more rigorous academically but lacks in social aspects but i was wondering if it really was THAT much better for academics than ucsb.
also if i go to ucsb i would most likely join a sorority and was wondering what the reputation was on campus for sorority girls in general and more specifically, the reputations of the sororities

My son got admitted but his first part of senior year he got a D in AP Calculus am I suppose to report this or just ignore it since he has a 3.6 gap that first semester. Anyone have this dilemma when they were accepted.

@avilabeach805 You need to report it. It’s stated in the admissions requirements that seniors must retain a C or above in all classes for their admissions to still be valid. Ignoring that could possibly get your son kicked out.

@kameersten It depends on your major, but - in general - UCSD’s academics are better than UCSB’s by - I’ve heard - quite a lot. UCSD is considered top-tier in UC’s (with Cal and UCLA) while UCSB is in with the mid-tier schools like UCD and UCI. Of course, rankings definitely aren’t everything, and you should visit both campuses to get a feel of which you would feel more comfortable going to.

Kameer–Have you visited both campuses? Both campuses are lovely but very different vibes. UCSD has more of a reputation of a commuter school (although there are obviously dorms) while UCSB is more residential. And, while academic ranking is important, there is not such a big difference between these schools that you should pick based on rankings as opposed to “fit.” Do your homework about both, visit if at all possible.
On a side note, did either give you honors or any merit money? When considering “fit” that was the tipping factor for my S, who is heading to UCSB. He turned down some much higher ranked schools and even a full-ride to a top 100 in favor of UCSB honors because he absolutely loves everything he has seen and read about UCSB.
