Ask a GW Student...

Summer housing is somewhat limited. The university rents out dorms to interns, etc. in the city. If you’re wanting summer housing, apply early. Also realize that there are sometimes gaps between semesters where students aren’t allowed in dorms and dorms are empty. Sometimes you can’t stay during winter break or certain other holidays, for example.

is pelham hall at west hall? I just got my dorm assignments today and I was a bit confused…

Hey GWGrad,

I’m absolutely OBSESSED with GW and my aim is the 7 year med program. Is it really hard to get into/stay in? Any comments or tips?

I’ll be attending GW in the fall in the class of 2017! I know I can’t help out with every question since, well, I’ve yet to experience true GW, but I’ll help any way I can!

@am2014 - the 7 year med program is extremely competitive. GW’s is one of the most prestigious and rigorous ba/md programs. Applicants are expected to have a 2200+ SAT/33+ ACT and a GPA > 3.8. My bestfriend’s in the program and she had a 4.0/2340.

Hi!

I’m interested in going to GW and go into medicine after undergrad.
Are there good research opportunities?
I got a 28 on my ACT. I play sports and have over 300 volunteer hours. I’m taking 5 aps this year and 2 in the past. Do you think I have a shot at getting in?

Hi there!
So I’m a senior in high school now, and I’m getting ready to apply to colleges.
I live in VA, and am half Indian half Pakistani.
I am applying to George mason, James Madison, Christopher Newport, and VCU.
Just a couple days ago my mom told me I should apply to george Washington just to see if I get in.
I want to major in law; it has been my passion for a while now.
My gpa up to the 11th grade is a 3.0. I have taken 4 pre IB and IB classss and for my senior year I am taking 5 IB classes.
I got B’s and C’s freshmn year. All b’s sophomore year, and A’s and B’s junior year. I have improved tremendously.
My ACT score is a 22…but I hope to get around a 27/28.
I have over 50 service hours, and I intern at my dads office. I have donated my hair, I have played tennis for 8 years, piano for 8 years, and golf for 3 years. I really hope to get all A’s and a few B+'s my senior year! If I apply for regular decision, and if my interview goes well, do you think I might have a chance at getting accepted?
I hope to hear from you soon
Thanks a lo!

Hi there!

So, I am a junior from California and I’m really interested in attending GW (it’s my top choice school). I go to a high school that offers duel enrollment at a local college, so I take college courses instead of AP courses. I’m taking college precalculus this year and I’m really nervous that I’ll get a C in the course… Do you think I’d have a chance of getting in to GW with a C on my transcripts?
My ACT will probably be a 28-30, GPA with the C in college precalc would be around a 3.7-3.75. I’d like to major in Biology and minor in Public Health; I’ll be applying Early Decision 1 next fall.

Thank you!
