@earthtones Regarding the AP scores, we certainly look at them if we’ve received them, and we consider them in light of the student’s file; they’re not make-or-break, but they’re helpful. If a student receives a 4 or above on the exam, we can also often bring that in as transfer credit. If he indicates on his application that he is enrolled in AP courses, and if he’s accepted, we’d most likely reach out to him in a few months to request the scores for that reason.

@NicoleChamplain, My son actually received a letter with instructions on how to check online on his application items yesterday. So it looks like at least some ED applicants are being provided access. (And my kid was able to confirm that all of his documentation has been received.)

@earthtones Clearly things have been so crazy with file reading, I didn’t catch up on the fact that ED2 students got access as well. If there was an embarrassed smiley, I’d be using that right now! I’m glad he was able to check and confirm that everything was here!

@NicoleChamplain–I definitely wasn’t trying to make you feel embarrassed; just wanted to pass the info along so you’d know!

@earthtones I really appreciate that! Good luck to your son through the review process. We’re getting to read some incredible applications right now!

Hi, I was wondering how the admissions process is different for transfering students. What does the admissions team look for in transfer applicants?

Hi @mesu5896! We actually have a dedicated admissions counselor to work with all transfer students; his name is Shawn McElwain, and he’s fantastic! You can contact him at mcelwain@champlain.edu, or at (802)383-6644. Rather than deadlines in place, transfers are read on a rolling admissions basis; that being said, we encourage transfer students to apply on the earlier side when possible! Shawn works with all transfer students regarding what the academic expectations are for different majors, as well as how transfer credits will come in. He’s the best person to chat with!

Hi had another question. Is there a way to check your admissions status online? Is that something champlain does, or is it primarily a mail based.

HI @mesu5896, every applicant should have gotten some information in the mail after starting an app; there is a portal to check the status of the application here: <a href=“Undergrad Applicants | Champlain College”>http://www.champlain.edu/undergrad-applicants. I hope that helps - if not, feel free to reach out to one of us in the Admissions Office through email or phone - we can help!

Hi @NicoleChamplain–will decision letters for ED2 go in the mail today? Just trying to figure out when to start stalking the mail carrier. My son (and I) avoided this crazy feeling so present throughout his high school for the four apps he submitted early action. He applied, didn’t really worry about it, and was happy to find fat envelopes in the mailbox a few weeks later. But this time, he’s really anxious about the answer!

Hi @earthtones, that’s the goal! We’re just counting on Mother Nature to not mess with the Postal Service much. A few went out a little earlier this week, but I know we still had a few that needed to hit the mail. If he doesn’t receive anything by the end of next week, definitely contact us!

I never got anything from the mail about my application. I talked with Shawn a few days ago to see if you guys had received my transfer application and everything was in there.

Good morning. We live overseas, and the mail can be “slow.” My daughter applied ED2 - is there any way to have the decision emailed?

@mesu5896 I’m not sure if we’re using the same process for transfers. If Shawn confirmed that everything is here, then you can absolutely take his word for it!

@GLY1964 I would check with the admissions counselor, Tonya Dolezal, about that! Her email is dolezal@champlain.edu. I’m sure she can find a way to get the decision to you sooner rather than later, but we have to confirm it with our director first!

@NicoleChamplain–Anxious mom here worrying that my son hasn’t received anything in the mail from Champlain regarding his ED2 app. Do you know when letters were sent? I know you had a big storm there last week and we did down here in the DC area as well, but I thought he’d hear by now. He would call his admissions counselor on Monday but he’s in a show next weekend and will be at rehearsal until 10pm all week. Suggestions of what to do?

Thanks, Nicole. We’re good to go. Admissions all set (which makes my daughter happy), and now just waiting to hear from the finance office (which will hopefully make me happy).

@earthtones I just chatted with the counselor for your area. Are you able to send me a message with your son’s name? If so, we can see what’s up with his application. We saw a few come through that due to upload issues were mistakenly listed as regular instead of early decision, so I want to make sure that this didn’t happen with him. Either way, send me a message, and we’ll figure out what’s going on!

Hi Nicole,
I applied early decision II and haven’t heard back yet… Should I be worried? I tried to call the admissions office and I left a message but the answering machine cut me off

Hi @Zgrant, I would reach out directly to your admissions counselor. You can figure out who they would be here: <a href=“Undergraduate Admissions Staff | Undergraduate Admissions | Champlain College”>http://www.champlain.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/contact-undergraduate-admissions/undergraduate-admissions-counseling-staff

We work with students mostly by territory; however, if you are a Radiography applicant, you’d be working with Shawn, regardless of where you’re from!

I hope that helps!
