Ask an Admissions Counselor - TCNJ

NJPEEPS: You have to submit your second $300 deposit by June 1st.

axw: There are 2 enrollment deposits. Both are $300. The first is due May 1st and the second is due June 1st.

Hello I wanted to know your opinion of the TCNJ summer bonner scholars program that is offered to highschool juniors? It seems like a great program and the kids get 4 college credits. It is very expensive well expensive to me anyways $3500 for two weeks. Does being in this program look good for getting into TCNJ? TCNJ is my top choice for my kid and she seemed to really like it when we visited. Thanks in advance

NJDAD2012: Any of the programs run by the Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement are terrific. As with all summer programs offered by TCNJ, they are something great to add to your resume but do not guarantee you a spot as a Freshman or Transfer Applicant.

Admissions,

How do you pay the second deposit? On PAWS? If so is it called an enrollment deposit? Do you know when the information packets will go out? Thanks in advance for your help…

Hello NJPEEPS! You can pay the second deposit on PAWS. All enrolled students should have received an email last night with instructions on how to pay that second deposit. You will receive a mailing within the next week that contains a checklist of what to expect next and information about orientation.

Thank you.

I have not yet received that email, and I’m uncertain how this is to work for me, my first deposit was waived, by Mrs. Kuchas, due to my military service any suggestions?

Hi Semper31! There is no second deposit for Transfer Students so you should not have received that email. Sorry for the confusion there. Only enrolled freshman students should have recieved an email on how to pay their second $300 deposit.

AdmissStaffTCNJ,
I’m so glad you clarified that transfer students don’t have the second deposit, since my son (a transfer student) didn’t get the email either.

When should he expect to get a bill? All he’s gotten is financial aid awards and info about how to set up a payment plan. I still don’t have an actual dollar amount that we do have to pay.

Thanks for answering all of our questions. It’s great to have a way to get info from the source!

Hi AdmissStaffTCNJ,
Would you be able to tell me about the Speech-Language Pathology program? I understand that it is only offered as a minor- I’m curious as to what a common major is that people have partnered with a Speech-Language Pathology minor. Also, do you not offer a graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology?

Hi AdmissStaffTCNJ,

Does TCNJ hold a information session specifically for medicine program? i.e. you take the normal information session and than could choose attend a session related to medicine program.

Thanks.

axw: Fall tuition bills for both Transfer and Freshmen students will be July 27.

Justsmile1: Students of every major can pick up a Communications Disorders (formerly Speech Pathology) minor, so whichever major your son or daughter is most interested in is the major to choose.

For more information on the Communicaitons Disorders minor, such as which classes are required, click here. [Communication Minor](Special Education, Language and Literacy | TCNJ - The College of New Jersey)

TCNJ no longer offers a graduate program in Speech Pathology. To see the graduate programs we do offer, click here.
Sam999: Before each daily tour, there is a general information session. If you have specific questions about admissions into the 7 year medical program, you should stick around after your tour to ask the counselor presenting those questions.

How do I go about reporting my junior AP scores to the college?
And how should I report my senior scores to the college when I get them in the summer?

I’ve heard that the collegeboard sends your old scores along with the current year’s, is this true? If not, I have the same question as tcnjplease. Considering scores are not released until early/mid July, do they have any impact on class registration, especially if you will have a large amount of credit?

TCNJPLEASE: When you first filled out the AP score sheet and all that there was a section for inputting the college you wanted your scores sent to. Did you not do that?

I did this year. I asked the senior year question as a sort of back-up.

I’m not sure what to do with my junior year scores, though. I didn’t mark any colleges for my scores to be sent to, and my guidance counseler said something about how we needed our old AP numbers to report the scores from last year. I’m just not sure how to do that.

TCNJPLEASE: You need to give College Board permission to release your AP scores to TCNJ, the same way you would your SAT scores. You can see more about AP classes, such as what scores you need to recieve credit at TCNJ, by following this link. [Advanced Placement :: Records & Registration :: TCNJ](TCNJ | Records and Registration)

As for your second question, I’m not sure what your refrencing with your ‘old AP numbers’ I would recommend checking out the link I offered Feareman to see if that website can offer any guidance.

Feareman: Scores are not automatically sent unless you tell College Board to do so. For more information on sending AP test scores, follow this link. [AP Scores ?AP Test Scores](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>View Your AP Scores – AP Students | College Board)

Admission,

Are IB test scores sent the same way as AP scores through college board?

NJPEEPS: IB tests are through the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). To have those scores sent to TCNJ, you have to go through the IBO and tell them to release your grades to us.

When will we get information on choosing our classes?

TCNJPLEASE: There is a mailing going out this week directly from our Records & Registration office that will fully detail how to select your classes. Keep an eye out for that letter coming in the mail!
