@Nova88: There are two places that should list books

1) www.carmen.osu.edu: if the professor has activated the Carmen site for their course, often a syllabus is posted with books

2) Use this B&N site (but don’t use them to actually buy except as a last resort!)

Been reading your posts. Your extremely helpful.

I have several questions for you that I’m hoping you’ll be able to answer … as your help will be greatly appreciated.

I’m going to be applying to OSU as a non-traditional student. I’m 25 yrs of age and have never went to college before. I worked once I got out of high school, and am now looking at going to college and getting my degree. I’m wondering what are the application requirements of non-traditional students ? Do i fill out the same undergraduate application online ? Because that’s what I was in the process of doing. I was reading somewhere that it said SAT/ACT scores are not required if you’ve been out of school for 2 or more years ? is this true ? … is the writing score required for me to send in ? I know that I’ll need to contact my school to send my transcript, but I’m wondering if I need anything else. Do I send in my application, then contact my school to mail my transcript? or should I contact my school to mail my transcript, then send in my application? I’m applying online btw. Just wanna make sure they have all the documents at once.

Is the college prep form required for me to send in ? (it’s been so long since I been out of high school, I feel it would be silly to go back and find my guidance counselor to fill it out)
The transcript I know I’ll need to send in.
Are SAT/ACT scores needed for me ?
and finally, is the writing exam score needed as well ? since I believe that’s included with SAT/ACT

If you have any specific information on what’s needed for a non-traditional undergraduate student to apply please let me know.
And also do you think it will be difficult for me to get in ? or are non-traditional students considered as part of diversity?

Do you know when FALL 2013 applicants will be allowed to apply ? Because that’s the semester I want to apply to.
If I were to apply for WINTER 2013 and I got accepted … but I wasn’t ready to go until FALL 2013, does that mean I would need to re-apply?

Hey, I am moving in to Scott House on North Campus in August and I was just trying to figure out what all we need for the quad. I was also wondering what all comes in the bathroom. Do we get a towel rack and shower curtain and all that good stuff? What are the things that we will definitely need?

Packalldwy, I took 151 on quarters and it was pretty difficult. Attaining an a is certainly possible but will require a large amount of work. The majority of the class was exams that don’t just test what you know. There are quizzes that cover concepts and are easy, but the exams are usually abstract problems that require application of previous knowledge. The average on the exams was a 60-70 percent and there was no curve.

What math level do most incoming freshman go into?

I am in China right now and my orientation is Aug 2-3. I don’t remember any math, AT ALL. I feel as if being a lower math class will hinder my self worth. Once math goes into my head, I tend to forget it when I don’t use it anymore. I took it online in June and got U. I have to take it AGAIN at orientation. ugh.

@cazee88 : Yes, there will be people that help you move in as an OWL

@BuckeyeJJ: I don’t know much about the non-traditional student experience, but this website should hopefully help you : [Welcome to the Office of Extended Education!](http://www.ced.osu.edu/)

I am pretty sure you won’t have to live in regular dorms…there are plenty of apartments around campus so I would not worry.

@packalldwy–

Math–I got an A, but you definitely need to do a LOT of practice and make sure you can do recitation and homework problems.
Economics–Not bad as long as you take good notes

I did not take the other courses, but Survey is always a joke and the other intro classes should be fine as long as you study.

@LexyB012–You get a towel rack, shower curtain, and some minor shelving.
Your last question is extremely vague and google-ing “what to bring to college” may yield better results

@Yinyangfooey–I started in pre-calc, some take lower and some time higher. It should have nothing to do with your self worth; if you start too high, you won’t succeed. Whatever course they put you in will be fine and many other students will be in the same situation.

Is it difficult/competitive to get into honors? I have a 4.0 UW, a year’s worth of post-secondary credit, decent ECs (my school is super small, not much offered), very challenging senior course load…but my act is 29. I just attended their honors/scholars exploration day, so I’m pretty interested in getting in. They didn’t really give much info on the profile of the kind of people they accept into the program.

Also, I’m ranked #1 in class. 4 yrs varsity track, NHS, NBC, 2 yrs quiz bowl…few more EC’s. My reccomendation letters should be pretty good, along with my own essay. About 85 volunteer hours.

Another question: Did you enjoy your honors classes as opposed to normal ones?

Hello OSULolz,
Thanks for all your help. I read your posting on the two places that list books required for a course. When I tried to find the books on the B&N website, it asks for the term, department, course and section. Where can I find the section?
Thanks in advance.

Hey I was just wondering how hard it is to get into Fisher directly your freshmen year? You can get in as a honors, scholar or as part of the global learning center thingy so I which is the easiest and what are the requirements to get in as a freshmen? I’m qualified to get in directly at Kelley in Indiana U so I was wondering what the criteria was at Fisher. What were your high school scores that got you in as a freshmen? Thanks.

I was looking to bring a carpet into Lincoln, but I do not have one. I got a letter with carpet sales specifically made for OSU, but I am still wondering if it’s worth grabbing one from there or if I should just find my own elsewhere.

@vanessalynn77-- You should be fine for honors, you’re plenty qualified. I believe that the 30 ACT minimum score was recently removed as a requirement. For me, the most beneficial parts of honors courses were (1) Priority scheduling (2) resume builder and (3) smaller class size.

@aiminhigh – You can find this on your class schedule on buckeyelink’s “Student Center.” It should also be on Carmen if you classes are up there yet…on the main page, it is the number in parentheses after the course ex. Bio 101 (7894)

@adakinedi-- I wouldn’t worry about how hard it is to get in the first year. There really are no benefits since you won’t take any or very few business courses your first year. I started off in CIS so I was not in Fisher my freshmen year, but in high school my GPA was ~3.94 with a 30 ACT if that helps

@OrbInfinite-- It’s really up to you. Ohio State’s carpet sales are definitely more convenient and they probably have more exact sizes to the room, especially if you want the entire floor covered. However, I used to just bring my own and it was more of an area rug, it didn’t go wall to wall. It was a bit more comfortable than those that Ohio State sold (much more cushion), although I don’t remember the price difference.

Cool, thanks! Also, let’s say I choose to apply for both honors and scholars, and I am admitted to both. Do I choose which one I get to join? Or am I automatically placed into honors or vice versa? Or do they never accept you for both programs?
