Is there a limit to the number of Credits/classes AP courses can substitute for? I have taken AP Biology (5) and am currently in AP Physics B. I plan on majoring in biology but I came across this:

http://aschonors.osu.edu/sites/aschonors.osu.edu/files/2013%20BS%20Honors%20GE%20(celery)%20(3-15).pdf</a></p>

And it says that AP for one course can be applied to the natural science GEC curriculum. So does this mean that I can’t send in AP biology and AP Physics scores and get full credit? So if I sent in AP Biology scores, and opted out of 1113, I would still have to take 1114?

That must be new for semesters…I’m pretty sure before you could use AP for more than one science. Based on what that says, I would agree that it looks like AP credit will only get you out of one of the courses; you will still get the credits applied, they just won’t apply towards your science requirement, but they can count as an elective

This may also just be an ASC rule, I don’t think they did this for the business school. I’d contact an adviser just to double check

Pro Tip: Bring rechargeable batteries and a charger to school, this will save a ton of money over the long run. Especially if you use a wireless mouse, tv remote, xbox controllers, etc

Hey, I qualified for the Alumnae Housing and was wondering if anyone on here has lived in the housing? I am currently between Fechko and Pomerene House. I am just looking for someone to tell me a little about their experience in these dorms! Thanks(:

How’s the Greek life on campus.?

@OSUlolz at a much earlier post you mentioned that it was recoomended to opt out of health insurance ( http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/14525716-post190.html</a> ) but i can’t seem to find any reference to the reasons on why should you opt out. can you please enlighten me on this? thanks!

invaliderror-just from a parent’s perspective, my S is already covered on my insurance so he opted out of the student insurance. It was an unneeded approx. $1,500 expense. If you go to the student health center website, they have information on what insurance considers them “in-network”.

For some families the student health insurance may make sense, but we didn’t need it.

@invaliderror Yep, just as NervousNellie1 said…I was already covered under my parent’s health insurance and we discovered that I was basically double covered for 2 years. That was about $3000 that was basically wasted…sad times

If a student isn’t covered under their parent’s insurance, I believe it is mandatory to get this, however

I’ll add that if you already have health insurance, for apx $200/yr you can get the WilceCare supplement which basically takes care of minor needs without having to use your primary coverage. Good for occasional visits due to flu, xrays… [WilceCare Supplement : Student Health Insurance](WilceCare Supplement : Student Health Insurance)

Alternatively, there is a CVS minute clinic just off campus, at Lane and High. I went there several times over the years, for minor things like strep tests and antibiotics, rather than go to the campus health clinic. It was very convenient.

ok thanks. do you guys know if some courses has their textbooks in electonic form or something.Or if i need an e-book reader

You can get some books in digital format to read on a Kindle or tablet, but from my personal experience, it’s way easier to have the actual book. Especially when you’re trying to quickly flip through when studying for final exams.

But search for a book on amazon and it should show you the kindle price. I’ve also “rented” a book online for a law class which wasn’t terrible…I just took really good notes and then never really had to go back to the book after I read it once.

What i meant was if OSU is replacing traditional books with ebooks. heard that many schools are going in that direction.

OSU doesn’t provide any of the textbooks, so you have the choose depending on what you buy. But I would say no, they aren’t replacing traditional books with e-books.

I read the school calendar, but still not clear enough: when we will have winter vacation(2013-2014)…? Is it the day after the autumn commencement? And will the dorm open during the vacation?

Thanks for answering. Some more questions (sorry for spamming you with questions but I am a little nervous on attending OSU since there is so much that i don’t know yet- don’t really feel prepared)

 1. Welcome week is in-between move-in day (17 aug) and the start of classes right? so how would it be like? would we be ferried around by orientation leaders or something or is it a chance for us to explore the ground on our own?
 2. How do you study for the EM tests there is only the syllabus of the course for you to gauge what would roughly be testing and you go in to the test hoping for the best right?

@invaliderror:

1) There are no orientation leaders except at summer orientation. Once you’re moved in, you’re free to do activities as you please. Your RA will have a floor meeting on the first night, but that’s about it. Welcome to college!

2) When I took EM tests, I contacted the department to find out what materials / books would be best to study before taking the test. They can usually tell you what WONT be on the test as well, which is very helpful
