I don’t remember any families/parents coming for that weekend unless their student was involved in homecoming. Also, traffic is a nightmare that weekend from both football and the parade. There are also more fun tour / activities available during family weekend that I doubt are also available during Homecoming weekend, so I would just stick to the one.

Is anyone in the exercise science program at OSU? i just want to know how competitive it is because i am interested in doing it while attending OSU

OSULolz–so how is your latest rotation in your job? What location have you liked the most? Do you feel like you graduated forever ago? I can’t believe my son is a soph already! Hope all is well. Thanks again for all of your guidance to current and prospective Buckeyes!!

OSULolz: (Or anybody that has gone to OSU that is responding)

I have read through this entire thread and have learned a lot. First let me thank you for putting it together – quite a few of my questions that I just didn’t find important enough to ask have been answered.

I have seen what you mentioned about South campus littered throughout the thread, and when it comes to the party scene (for anybody else wondering) page 24/25 are of some interest. But not all of my question related to that has been answered so… (Just so you know I’m not trying to just repeat what’s already been said.)

I know you have said you weren’t much into the partying/alcohol/drug scene, but it is an important social aspect of why I chose OSU. The education portion is more important to me, but on that side I have no questions.

Is ALL of South campus the ‘rowdy’ part, or just specific dorms?

Where are parties usually hosted? Dorm, house, other? (Like if you’re not in THAT dorm or whatever, are you still able to head over there? Dorm hopping allowed?)

In my housing I put down South campus as a preference, but I also put down a quad as first and am unsure of if I put any specific buildings down. I’d say my “personality” thing would be viewed as more “partier-like,” I was okay with drinking/drug use, late nights, etc, but I’m just a little worried that if put in a toned-down South building or North campus somehow, I’d miss out on a big part of why I chose the school.

Bitani–
I just finished my freshman year at OSU and lived in Morrill Tower but had alot of friends on south campus… I spent a good chunk of time there and its considered the party seen for multiple reasons.
It’s really close to high street and the off campus housing located right behind high street where all of the parties are thrown.
Most of the “less rowdy” dorms are on North campus because that is where many of the engineers/science majors live. Also, there are some honors/scholars dorms as well as the Mount Leadership dorm on north campus.
The south campus dorms have been renovated more recently and are nicer, with the exception of Mac Hall and a few others without AC.

Regarding your question about whether or not all of south campus is rowdy…
For the most part yes, it is. However there are a few dorms that are better than others.
Last year, Park Stradley was the craziest by far given that it was brand new and very popular. With that being said, every dorm on campus will have its fair share of drinking/drugs. No matter where you live you will have a great time and always be in walking distance from a good party (I lived on west campus and had no problem walking all the way to high street).

I agree completely with TexasBuckeye7 and will just add that South Campus is also right near the Gateway, which has many bars/restaurants in a little cove like area. Very fun/easy for barhopping and (legal) drinking

Hello! I’m not sure if this has been asked yet, but is it hard to get non students into football games? And can you buy them tickets with the student discount? I have heard that you can just give someone your buckID and they let them in with a ticket.

You can’t buy your friends tickets from the school, however hundreds of students sell tickets to eachother through facebook and other social media. You have 3 options for getting your friends into the football games if they do not go to OSU.
You can go to the Southeast corner of the Schott (ticket office) and get the ticket ‘upgraded’ so that no BuckID is required. This is now more expensive than in previous years due to ‘premier games’ like Wisconsin. You have to pay the price difference of the ticket between the student and public price. In addition you have to pay an upgrade fee. The upgrade fee for the first ticket is $5 and then the price increases after that. Go to http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/tickets/pdf/m-footbl-student-info.pdf for a more clear explanation. FYI, This CANNOT be done on game-day.

You can borrow a friends BuckID who isn’t going to the game. It really doesn’t matter whos ID it is because the people dont check at the gate. They don’t scan the BuckID’s either so if for some reason you have 2 or an old one that doesn’t work you can use it.

You can try to get in without showing a BuckID. Sometimes the people check for ID’s and sometimes they dont. You can normally get away without one but if it is a “big” game I recommend using another method.

I found it really useful to have an extra BuckID as TexasBuckeye7 mentioned. Just go to the Union and tell them that you lost yours and you can get a new one for $20. Especially if you’re a freshmen, you’ll get good use out of letting your friends/parents/siblings/whoever to the games who can’t usually have student ticktes.

My job is still going great! Currently in Carlisle, PA. I spent 8 months in Los Angeles, 2 months in Dallas, and 2 months in Detroit. I think my favorite has been Dallas so far, it’s a really neat place!

Graduation does seem long ago…I actually was in Columbus for the first time since graduation (June 2012) and had a very nostalgic time. Had some Buckeye Donuts, Cane’s, hung out at the Gateway, etc…sure do miss the college days!

Thanks for checking in, hope you’re doing great as well!

What do you know about the National Buckeye for non-Ohio residents scholarship? Ohio State is high on my list but in order to attend I would need this scholarship. What amount of non Ohio students gave this scholarship?
Thanks!

By stripping to the waist, getting oiled up, and fighting the other applicants in a Battle Royale on the Oval, at midnight on a full moon, surrounded by flaming pyres and roaring crowds.

There is another way not many people know about, it’s really hard to find cuz it involves using Google and clicking the mouse, here it is:
