Ask and answer your own question. . .

I am applying to UConn, UMD College Park and a few other schools. UConn and UMD do not take the common app, but both have a topic that is pretty much just "ask one question and answer it: be creative and thoughtful". I already wrote a pretty good essay about golf (one of my favorite sports and I work at a course) and what it has taught me.

Is it ok to just shape a question around this essay??? Will it make a big difference if I take this option instead of their other topics? My english teacher was telling me that this essay was creative, original and told a lot about me, and I'd like to keep it that way. I don't feel I'd have as good an essay with any other topics.

I know I should most likely get accepted at UMD (#1 choice), but I am quite nervous about this essay nonetheless.

Q: Do you play the cello?
A: No, not really.

To OP: I think that your proposed plan would be ok.
