Gabbyk19,
I am in the same boat. Deferred EA and awaiting word. I called Admissions today and they said they are mailing out the letters in three batches-today, tomorrow and Friday. I asked if they were sorted by decision and she said no. I wonder though... since a bunch of other CC applicants already received acceptance letters this week. I didn't read any posts that said they received reject or waitlist letters.

Hey! According to the most current statistics I could find (which are from Fall 2004) the Asian population makes up about 5.8% of the student body, and African Americans make up approximately 6.8%. However, this year we received more applications than ever (over 18,000) so I'm sure those numbers will change. :)

McSkip: The Admissions Office said they were mailing letters today, tomorrow, and Friday? On March 23, a Fordham admissions officer posted this:

Letters Leaving Campus Today

"We are currently mailing our first batch of letters today. Additional batches will be mailed tomorrow. We anticipate having all letters in the mail by the end of the day Monday.

Good luck to all of you. We've enjoyed reading your applications.

It's been a challenge selecting a class from such a large, talented group. Applications are up 20% while spaces in the class remains the same."

I thought they were all supposed to be sent last week. Hmmm...idk. If Fordham sends them out this week, it'll take forever for me to get my letter. Aaahhh!

Dont freak out. If you dont hear from us by this weekend, then give us a call.
I know, I've been there!

Thanks, eldavis87. I'll def call if I don't receive anything by this weekend. :)

do you have any information on the waitlist? I got my letter today and was waitlisted. Is it worth it? The letter said there are 3000 kids on it...anything?

3,000!?!? Omg...it must have to do w/ the 20% increase in apps this year.

My daughter was accepted at Fordham. Now she is worried because she is a very liberal young women. Very active in planned parenthood, gay rights, pro choice. How much of a problem is this going to be for her. She is not religious at all. Has not gone to church since age 11. Very vocal and outspoken. Is Fordham a fit? Will she be silenced, ostracized, or outright hated?

She won't be silenced, but she won't be encouraged either. For the most part, White - conservative students are at a majority here, so maybe that would give you some sort of an idea of what she can expect. She will be required as part of the core curriculum to take at least two theology classes, so if she is uncomfortable with the idea of learning about religion and its history, then she might want to re-think her choices over. Besides that, I can tell you that this is a great school, and regardless of her political views she can and will make many friends.

FYI just so you know, there are openly gay students here, so its maybe not as bad as my words make it out to be.

G.L.

Is religion a huge thing at Fordham? Could an atheist survive there?

Yes, an atheist can survive just fine.

what were ur stats?

Hi... I was considering applying to Fordham Rose Hill in the fall.... i was wondering what it really takes to get in there. How much power does class rank hold, and what is the average GPA? Are interviews, essays and extracirruculars important?

Thanks!!!

Hi! Do you know a guy named Drewie<3? I heard he goes to Fordham? Thanks! :)

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I did not realize the postings had continued so much! But do not worry about your daughter at all. As I'm sure you know, our school is a liberal arts college, and a good majority of our students are of the liberal "persuasion". Religion is not a big issue, I haven't been to church myself since I was young, except with my high school on required mass days. Some kids go to church, but no one is ever pressured to be a certain way or follow a certain religion. Even the theology classes are very open and comfortable. Furthermore, a lot of kids here are very active, for instance there was a huge campaign recently to allow the Vagina Monologues to be produced on campus. There are a lot of minority activist groups, feminist groups, political groups, etc. She'll be just fine!

Hello,

First, I'm glad you're considering applying to Fordham! Recently we've had more and more applicants, meaning Fordham is becoming increasingly more competitive to get accepted to but as a general guideline we look for a GPA in the 3.2-3.5+ range, with a rank definitely in the top 50%, much closer to the top 1/3 if not higher. Interviews are not required, only recommended if you feel that a part of your application may be lacking and you want to "win" the counselors over with an interview. Don't worry about them though, we only offer 300 per year for 18,000 applicants. Essays are definitely looked at, but not the sole factor for admission, and extracurriculars are KEY! Since the applicants are becoming more and more competitive we're really looking for kids that are involved, involved, involved. It's not just about SATs and GPAs anymore, so get/keep involved!

Good Luck!

Thanks so much for the feedback. I think Fordham is a great school, but was really concerned that my daughter would be ostracized. We are 98 % certain that she will come. I think variety is the spice of life. These insights really made a difference. I love CC.

I'm thinking about majoring in either computer science or some kind of engineering. I got accepted to the LC campus. Will I have to take the bus back to the Bronx for a lot of my classes?

NO! My friend is a compsci major at lc and shes never had to leave. Going to RH is your prerogative if youre more interested in their electives.

I was wondering if you knew what types of internships students at Fordham get in the business management/marketing program get? Any jobs with sports related companies? I'm a huge sports fan and I am hoping to maybe get a job in the sports world and I plan on studying management or marketing.
