Hey guys, so now that I am officially looking at CC for info on colleges, I decided to return the favor by offering prospective students information about CA! Ask away!

Hi! I’m in eight grade and I’m applying to Concord Academy. Do you think boarders have a better time than day students or vice versa? Also I was wondering what a typical accepted student looks like SSAT, grades and extracurricular wise. Thanks!
During the school day boarding and day students are treated equally. When we visited we learned that boarding students are not allowed to be in the dorm during the day.
Are there any pictures online on how the dorms actually look?
Yeah MA2012 is right. I think neither the boarders nor the day students have a better time at the school. Of course, the boarders have more traditions but both the boarders and day students have traditions they work on together as a class. Also boarders and day students are very integrated bc no one is allowed back into the house. Day students are also welcome to come for study hall, sleep over in houses, and join boarders for dinner and evening activities. If you look on the CA page, I think there should be pics of the houses (not called dorms at CA) but I am not completely sure. They are pretty standard though – a desk, a table, a lamp, a bed, a mirror (if you’re lucky!) and a closet! People go pretty crazy with decorating. Best part about being in a house instead of a dorm is that we are not in hallways and we have a comfortable common room that doesn’t feel isolated. So it depends if you’re looking for a residential space that feels like a home or more of a traditional mini college dorms. The houses are great imo. We have house competitions and house food (we sell drunks, ramen, gummy bears, etc) every day after study hall. On Saturday nights we also have another type of house food, where the house parents (aka our dorm parents) make us homemade food like dumplings and Mac and cheese and so on. You’re and so up ported by one or two great head of houses, who and seniors and do check ins every night!
For grades, you should probably have great gardes, like above a B range because it is a rather competitive school. SSAT scores should also be pretty high up, but realize admission offices check to see if you come from a program (ABC, White foundation, TEAK), public vs private school, if you’re first gen, and so on. I’m hoping to read applications this fall as a senior (yup, seniors get to read applications with the admissions office!) and from what I’ve heard, extracurriculars should be something that you’re obviously passionate about and shine through in your app. This goes for essays, too.
