So I just finished my freshman year as a student in the UIUC College of Business and am pretty familiar with everything regarding the university. Looking to give back to incoming/transfer students, as many people helped me on here last year. Ask me about transfer/admission odds, housing, campus life, etc. More then happy to help! : )

I know my GPA is no where near what UIUC wants for business but I messed up my freshmen and sophomore year. I tried hard junior year and got a 3.5 gpa which raised my gpa up. I basically progressed over the years. I was also wondering does me being a first generation student with low family income help at all? The average act for college of business is 28-32 and I am right in the middle, the only thing that is bringing me down is my GPA.
Also just finished my first year. bigmind, it depends on what you’re looking for. I’m in engineering so I didn’t talk to too many business majors but the general feel is Hopkins is the party dorm, Bousfield/Nugent is the rich kid or upperclassmen dorm, Snyder is the lame dorm, Scott is for transfers, Weston is probably the most normal dorm and TVD sucks. Don’t live in TVD. Those are all closest to the BIF. If you aren’t looking at Ike area, ISR is for engineering students, Allen is the more hippy dorm, LAR a little less and FAR/PAR are for weird kids. Keep in mind, these are just the stereotypes so it doesn’t apply to everyone, but those are the general feelings of them.
Campus life is whatever you want it to be (as cliche as that is). If you want to go out seven nights a week, you can and you can find people to do that with. If you want to go study, you can find people like that too. If you’re looking for a good balance, you’ll find more people like you. Campus can feel fairly self segregated as well, meaning that similar people tend to stick together. A lot of the international students are Chinese and they make up a large portion of the student body. Depending on where you are, it’s not uncommon to hear more Chinese than English being spoken.
I just got my AP results and both my micro and macro are only 4. So I am kind of worried. Can I exchange them for credit hours? BTW, I also heard about Econ 102 is an easy class( compared ). So is it worth for my to skip?
