My friend who applied with me from India, got his admission decision (acceptance) via email today, along with his financial aid package. But me and some others didn't. No email, be it accept or reject. What's wrong? Are only the accepted sent an email? Phew, this is terrifying!!

I am an idiot and read India as Indiana and started freaking out haha. So, is it only international students who will receive an email acceptance? Also, when should we expect snail mail if we're in the U.S. (Fl, in my case)

Domestic applicants receive notification via snail mail only no later than April 1. Applicants from nearby states may hear back a day or two earlier than those from your area.

I emailed admissions about me not getting a decision while my Indian friends have already got one and the reply was that they are going to mail me my decision next week. Err ... without sounding utterly paranoid ... does that mean I didn't make it and as a rejection I get a late decision, after the accepted ones that is?

<<< Lafayette College encourages all students to have Health Insurance. Varsity Athletes and International Students are required to have Lafayette College Group Health Insurance or comparable coverage with another health plan. >>>

From the 'College Catalog':

<<< Optional student health insurance will be available for academic year 2009-10 at an estimated annual fee of $1,999. This coverage provides hospital, prescription, and medical-surgical benefits for 12 months beginning August 1, when subscribers are registered as full-time students. Coverage continues during vacation periods. A plan description and enrollment application announcing the actual fee are included with the fall semester billing. >>>

I would not recommend coming to college without health coverage of some kind, especially for int'l students. You don't have to purchase the college's coverage, though -- it does seem rather pricey.

Then i guess i will purchase a health plan only after i come to the college, after sorting through my choices.
I talked to some other people and they said that its not a big deal as the health plan never covers the expenses completely....
Lafayette has one for $1400...what would be other cheaper ones worth?

Health insurance plans range in cost, depending on the amount of coverage you desire. For more information regarding your options, I'd get in touch with Health Services.

thanks Justin!!!
Since i am already on financial aid worth 50k, will it be ok if i asked the college to waive my insurance fees? i heard somebody did that somewer else...

:D

First off, congratulations to your son on his acceptance! You must be so proud/happy/relieved/etc.

I have absolutely no idea when Tuition Exchange notices are being sent. I'd give the Office of Financial Aid a call tomorrow at 610-330-5055 to find out.

Can you help with some feedback btw- Laffayette, Muhlenberg, and Ursinus. Daughter was accepted, and she's ready to pick. All these schools are close to home which she wants. Her major is English but she's not sure if she wants that now. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
