The same thing happened to me! I had to cut my essay by approximately 300 words! It was painful to do it, but I had no other choice. Sorry.

Are there opportunities to qualify for AU scholarships after freshmen year, or are you simply out of luck if you didnt receive one when initially applying?

I sure hope so because my son didn’t get anything.

@CMM731, I wouldn’t stand on one leg waiting for a response. The AU Admissions Director who started this thread bailed on it back in November. He warned that he wouldn’t be able to respond to every post, but his failure to check in for months makes the Admissions Office look disorganized at best and callous at worst. It would have been better just to stay off CC if he couldn’t commit to participating.

That’s pretty sad. It’s also pretty sad that someone, had a thread removed pertaining to a Facebook page that exists for American parents to have informal conversation. https://www.facebook.com/groups/476972962404741/ I would certainly hope that this isnt at the request of the school. Is there a CC rule that I am not aware of that prevents links to Facebook pages? If so, please, someone enlighten me

The ban on links to Facebook is found deep in the Terms of Service, in the “Links” paragraph:
https://auth.collegeconfidential.com/module.php/hobsonspolicies/policy.php?policy=tos

Does American offer interviews for students as part of the admissions process?

I’m not the Director of Admissions, but I can tell you that your answer is easily found on the AU website: <a href=“American University Washington D.C.”>http://www.american.edu/admissions/interviews.cfm (Self-help is a great skill to master before going to college.)

I am very interested in applying to AU for the International Relations program for the 2016-2017 school year (I am currently a junior). I have lived in 5 countries and speak 3 languages almost fluently, and am currently living in Colombia. I was wondering if this will help me in the admissions process, especially since I want to study IR
