Asking Extra Teacher for Letter of Rec?

Hi there!!

I was just wondering about this...the school I'm applying ED to requires 2 letters of recommendation from teachers. I've already asked my AP Chem and APUSH teacher, but my APUSH teacher has put me on a waitlist for her letter because a lot of people asked earlier (as in, line up outside her door at 6 AM on the first day of school type of early). She's iffy about whether she'll even be able to do mine by the time the deadline rolls around, so I've decided to ask my English 3H teacher as well.

My question is, if both my APUSH teacher and my English 3H teacher started/completed their letters of rec for me, would I be able to "choose" on the Common App which letter I wanted sent to the school? I know I can't read them, but if possible I'd prefer for my APUSH teacher to write mine, along with my AP Chem teacher. Would this be feasible? And the reason I don't want both my APUSH/English teacher to write recs for me is because their classes were part of a block and taught back-to-back, so they'd have pretty similar things to say about me (and redundancy isn't something I want to have on my app!)

Thanks so much, and sorry in advance if the situation is a little confusing!

Ask your English teacher to write the rec. If he/she agrees, then go back to the APUSH teacher, thank her, and tell her you no longer need her recommendation.

What you need are two recommendations you are certain will be submitted in a timely fashion. You don’t need three “maybe’s."
