Asking for recommendations?

Hi, everyone.

Here's a snippet of my story: I attended UCLA for 2 quarters in 2011 before withdrawing. I haven't been enrolled in a college class since, but am now applying to transfer to other schools. I will be taking courses at my local community college this spring to complete a full year of studies before continuing my education at another college next fall.

At UCLA, I took mostly general education courses, large lectures. I took a few upper-division courses but they were still classes with at least 30 - 50 students. I did well in my courses and connected a little with some of my professors but nothing deeply meaningful or memorable. Now two years have gone by, and I doubt that any of them remember me much at all!

So here's my quandary: I have no choice but to go out on a limb and contact them for recommendations even though they might not even know who I am. But how would I go about asking? Is there anything I can do to boost my chances for getting good recs despite the circumstance? Would it be appropriate to attach some of the best work I did in their classes?

Thanks for any advice!

you should ask the schools you are applying to and let them know of the situation, and see what they say to do

I know I have to have at least one academic evaluation from a college professor…

Any other advice?

Bump. I have to ask at least one professor by the end of the month before winter break, so any advice would be great. I can’t be the only one who has attended a large public and needs to transfer. Thanks.
