Asking Professors for Recommendations?

I'm realllly sorry if this question has been asked a million times. (I tried search.)

Long story/question short... As a dual-enrollment student at the U of Minnesota, would it be wise to ask a college professor to write one of the two main letters of recommendation.

Thanks!

PSEO? Yeah, me too. There's actually quite a few of us on CC when you look for 'em.

Anyways, as long as the professor knows you well enough to write about more than just your grades (character, ability, personality, etc.), I would go for it. Both of my recommendations are from teachers at UMN (1 is an English/Writing grad student/TA and the other is a French instructor - not quite a tenured prof).

I'm not exactly sure about this one, but I at least hope that adcoms might put a little more weight on a rec from a teacher at UMN rather than one at my high school.

^ I'm not sure they'll put more weight on it, but I'm quite sure it will count. My D is starting PSEO at the U in September and is hoping to do well enough to get good recs from her profs.

It's like any other reco, does the person really know you and can he/she shed more light on you than someone else.

Yeah, my only concern is that I've heard they don't know how to write rec. But I guess I could just tell them...?
