I am seriously considering going vegan upon entering college, although the schools to which I've applied do not appear famed for their vegan cuisine (e.g., UA, UGA, FSU, UT Vols, App State, UNCG, Valdosta State). I would purchase a meal plan for sure, and while every school has a good amount of little restaurants on campus, I'm a bit worried about the cafeteria options. Does anybody have experience, advice, or similar concerns?

Perhaps look at the dining hall web pages of the schools to see what they offer?

Since SO MANY students, particularly females, are vegetarians or vegans these days, schools are pretty used to providing food options. The south is no different…lots of vegans and vegetarian students…particularly at southern schools that have a lot of OOS students.

PETA has a website that grades colleges/universities on their vegan dining options - can’t remember the name but I’m sure it will come up in a google search. Really helpful tool.

Check out University of North Carolina - Asheville. Great healthy vegan dining on campus and Asheville is pretty much the vegan mecca of the south.

Best of luck in your search!
