I personally think the OP will get accepted to at least half of his “reach” schools because I’ve seen people accepted at some of these places with much less impressive stats, but then again, that’s just my opinion, and I’m a merely high school student applying to college just like him.

Haha it isn’t quite as daunting as it appears, I should have divided them by semester for the economics, and I’ll be doing the Physics C courses in a similar manner (start E&M as soon as I finish M).

I can’t make any guarantees but I think you are almost assured an acceptance to Yale, as well as many of your “reach” schools (so they aren’t really “reach”). You are good at anything you do, which is always nice to see; nothing is there for the sake of filling up space. Honestly, you won’t need your status as a legacy to get in, but it will definitely solidify your chances. I wouldn’t really think much about your targets unless you get a really good scholarship to some of those places. If I were to somehow get into Yale (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/798983-chances-yale-ea.html), I would love to see someone committed to everything like you on campus.

Have you thought about the A.B. Duke scholarship? You have leadership and excellence everywhere: just what they’re looking for. Certainly something to think about!

^Yep, exactly what I wanted to add but wasn’t bold enough to say. You have such unbelievably amazing stats, so many state and national level awards, a lot of schools will love to have you. Being an Asian will hinder you a little bit but not as much as others seem to think. But again, we are all rather unqualified to make such judgements.

Is there anything special that I need to do when it comes to the Duke A.B. Scholarship? I’ve heard of it, is it just something that they do when you apply?

You have great statistics + ec’s, and legacy at Yale helps a lot. i’d say you have a fantastic chance there, as well as good chances everywhere else. good luck!

I’ve seen people get into Yale with 1900 SATs and get denied with 2400. It really doesn’t make sense to me, I have no idea what they’re looking for but I’d say you have one of the most impressive resumes I’ve seen. All those colleges will definantly take you VERY seriously but like I said, its so frickin! random as to who they take. Legacy is invaluable at Ivies and other major schools. I’d say good chances at all those and of course huge scholarships at the lower schools.

^^^ Yeah quite strange. I’m worried about a poor luck of the draw and end up getting a lot of rejections, I just hope my hedging the bet strategy will work well.

I’ve sorta tempered my hopes; I guess I would be mildly surprised if I were rejected by all my reaches, but it probably wouldn’t kill me as long as I got into BC or Middlebury.

Would not be fun if I were rejected everywhere except BU and Uconn though.

Yale - Low reach

Your resume is really impressive! I think you have a great shot at all the Ivies, but with college admissions being so unpredictable you never know what could happen. No matter what, you’re going to a great school! Good luck :]

I’ve been reading the Price of Admission thread in the parents forum and it seems like there is a wide variety of views on how much of a factor legacy is. In my case, do you think that I am on par with many applicants and legacy can provide the tip factor to get in?
