ASU Food in Fall 2007

ASU is dumping their contract with the current food providers. As a result, a number of changes are going to occur.

First of all, the current restaurants in the main food court at the Memorial Union, Pandini, Mediterranean(sp?) Cafe, Mein Bowl, and Salsa Rico will be closed. No one knows yet what is going to be in their place.

The chains of Burger King, Jamba Juice, Cold Stone Creamery, Einstein’s Bagels, Cereality, Schlotzky’s Deli, and Chick-A-Fil will have to renogiate their contracts to stay in.

The various cafeterias, Sahuaro Cafe, Pitchforks, Manzi Square, Verde Fresh, Pizza Rico, Devil’s Diner will either fall under new management and menus will change. Some things will likely remain the same, Pitchforks, Sahuaro Cafe, and Manzi Square will not close under any circumstances, but the food will be different.

This also means that the food plans are up in the air at this time. Most likely a food plan will still be required if you live in the dorms but the details are likely going to change - the meal plan options available at www.asucampusdining.com will probably no longer be as accurate.

I have no idea what is going to happen at the restaurants at the ASU Foundation, Extreme Pita, Pizza Vita, Panda Express, and Subway something or other.

Just a head’s up for the incoming frosh.

hm, that's weird.

My sister said that the MU restaurants will be replaced with an all-you-can eat style buffet, making the meals on the meal plans easier to use, but maybe i misunderstood her.

And i thought all freshmen had to have a meal plan, not just the ones living in the dorms.

Well dangit.

At least there will always be YC's...yumm.

Extreme Pita, Pizza Vita, Panda Express, and Subway are not part of the campus meal plan. A few accept SunDollars, but not M&G or mealplan.

You only have to have a meal plan if you live on campus, but you can be exempt if you live in Cholla or the Towers. I don't think all freshman are required to have a meal plan.
