Hey guys! So I will be a sun devil this coming fall. I took Calc 1 and Calc 2 in high school and got a 5 on the AP exam. I felt pretty good about both subjects. I’m a biomedical engineering major at Barrett, the Honors College at ASU.
Now I have the credit to skip both Calc 1 and Calc 2 this fall. My question is-- should I?
Is calc 3 that difficult (I’ve heard horror stories about it)?
Plus I’m also taking an 18 credit hour schedule which includes physics.
I really don’t want to waste my time relearning something I already know, but I don’t want to be overwhelmed either.
What would you guys recommend?
Thank you for your help!

You should be ok look up your intended professor on ratemyprofessors and check out grade distributions on myedu (awsome site)!

I’ll be taking Calc III in the fall, in the same position you’re in. My brother did the same and got an A+ (with Vaz, if you were wondering). He told me Vaz is a good prof as long as you know what you’re doing, for the most part.

Also, University Physics at ASU should be similar to AP Physics C, from what he’s told me as well. If you took that class, I wouldn’t worry about Physics either.

Overall, I think you should go for it. I’ve also heard that freshman year is the easiest to load up on classes since many are intro/easy classes anyway.
