ASU vs SDSU

<p>So I got denied from UCLA, UCSD, UCSB (waitlisted), and UCI. I got into the engineering school at ASU and as an economics major at SDSU. Which school should I pick based on academics, social life, opportunities, etc.?</p>

<p>Do you want to major in engineering or do you want to major in economics? I know that many companies recruit at ASU from all over the country, but the same is probably true at SDSU, since they are both large schools. </p>

<p>As far as Phoenix as a city, here is how Forbes sees it</p>

<p>Again, it doesn’t mean the companies in Phoenix don’t hire lots of grads from California too.</p>

<p>Also, I am not clear how SDSU fits into the California system but does it have impacted majors? Could you transfer to engineering if you wanted to? Will you be able to get the classes you need to graduate in 4 years.</p>

<p>How do the costs compare? Academically they are ranked about the same overall. So if SDSU is in-state, that may be the more prudent choice, assuming you really don’t care about which major of course.</p>

<p>As far as the feel of the campus and social life, I think you really need to visit both to make a comparison for your own criteria. My D really likes Tempe and the Phoenix area (and even the heat) but of course San Diego is a great city.</p>

<p>@STEMFamiy I would love to major in biomedical engineering! I received a scholarship at ASU and they have a great bioengineering program there. All majors at SDSU are impacted, and they don’t offer a biomedical engineering program for undergrads. My ultimate dream is to go to medical school, and I am just scared that med schools will think I took “the easy way out” if I go to ASU. Thanks for your feedback!! </p>

<p>From everything I have read on other threads here on CC, by far the most important thing for medical schools is your GPA. They don’t really care where your degree is from. (And ASU’s engineering school actually has a pretty good reputation.) Furthermore, biomedical engineering is going to be tough anywhere, and could hardly be regarded as taking the easy way out regardless of the school. In fact, I would be more worried about keeping a high GPA in biomedical engineering than the school. </p>
