Which is the better service at Berkeley (both on and off campus, in libraries/dorms, etc.)?

Also, anyone have recommendations for a flip phone vs. slider phone?

flip phone, that way you can scare thieves into thinking you have a switch blade

threadjack: anyone know how good sprint is at cal too?

I think most people think that Verizon has better reception in this area.

Verizon's better in the area as long as you're not in a valley or something like that. AT&T isn't much worse.

When I went up for OHP/Cal Day/CalSO, AT&T worked fine for me, basically full bars everywhere. You can't go wrong with either, basically.

Anyone got recommendations on good free phones that come with the plans?

the iphone of course! just joking... that thing is $200 plus an expensive service plan...

My boss just "bought" two LG Vu phones today through TigerDirect.com, service is on AT&T. They were both free after the discounts and automatic rebate, but on AT&T they are $99 after the mail-in rebate. I don't know how expensive the rate plan is for the LG Vu, though it looks as cool as the iPhone.

Verizon works fine for me.

Slider phones are annoying, especially if you don't buy a case for them. The screens are highly vulnerable to wear and tear, they're shaped funny, they can accidentally open while in your pocket, purse or backpack, and even when they're locked so you can't accidentally press buttons on the face when it's closed, it will make annoying beeping noises whenever you hit them.

... yeah. My next phone is definitely not going to be a slider. It seemed nifty at the time, but it got old REAL fast (have had it ~2 years now).

AT&T drops calls like a bi*ch.

I have had both at different times. Not much difference.
I will go for AT&T because they have better phone selections

i have sprint. went to calso. service suckeeed. couldnt get service in like.. pimentel & dwinelle or basically any of the classes

Verizon worked fine for me during Calso

I don't go to Berkeley yet('12), however I live in the Oakland/Berkeley Area. I have AT&T and have never had a dropped call, and I have spent plenty of time at campus, College/Telegraph/Shattuck, and the rest of the bay area.

Also I have a slider and I just love it. It all comes down to personal preference.

at & t works perfect
