That doesn’t give anyone the right to say that one school isn’t prestigious at all.

But to state that Yale is not prestigious is not a very informed or valid opinion.

This thread is so awesome. Please, dbate, KEEP POSTING. Keep the lulz alive. It’s like the more your post, the more ignorant you come off. Plus, admitting that you’ve “never heard” of schools like Northwestern or UChicago just proves that you’re not really up with what’s going on in the world around you. UChicago provides the namesake for, uh, well this, which I have to say I’m shocked a current Yale student isn’t familiar with. Oh, and the POTUS taught Constitutional Law at Chicago, another fact I’m a bit puzzled a current student at a college like Yale isn’t familiar with. As for Northwestern…seriously? You’d never heard of it (I don’t mean you didn’t consider it or w/e, you said you legitimately hadn’t heard of it)? Are you kidding me? To bring it to your level, selectivity…in 2007, Northwestern enrolled the third highest number of National Merit Scholars in the country. That feat is even more amazing when you consider that it does draw more kids from the midwest, where the ACT/PLAN are more popular and taking the PSAT isn’t an automatic like it is for many Ivy-bound east coasters. Oh, and Northwestern alumni? Google that, you’ll be amazed. Bottom line, what a lot of your college’s alums are telling you is correct. Once you leave your clearly very, very, very small bubble, you’ll see that Northwestern (along with other top schools you’ve managed to disparage here) and its alumni get a lot of respect (or, in your words, “prestige”) out in the real world.

Nobody’s going to attack you for not knowing things like this that are, in the grand scheme of things, pretty trivial for a student to know. That is, only if you keep the fact that you’re ignorant on topics like this to yourself instead of going online and being totally arrogant with your clearly twisted POV. /rage
