Hi! I am a Wake Forest Prospective student. This is mainly because of the beautiful campus, the prestigious status, their moderately small size, the nice area in North Carolina, and their emphasis on public service, which 22% of graduates pursue. I desire to either take up law or work for the government. Either way, I want to help people.
Stats:
-Major: Political Science/History
-GPA: 3.4 UW/4.4 W – Class rank 50/295 (Top 17%) I started off freshman year with a really bad GPA, but I decided to truly apply myself in my junior year, taking both AP/IB courses
-SAT: HERE’S THE REAL PROBLEM. My combined superscore score is a 1770 (M: 520: CR: 550, W: 700). I desperately need to increase my score by about 200-300 points, but I also want to apply early to increase my chances.
-5 AP Classes (Human Geography, English Language and Comp, English Literature and Comp, U.S. History, and Psychology). English, Spanish, and History IB
-Took ALL honors academic courses.
Background:
-From public high school in South Carolina. Asian/Middle Eastern, came from a broken home with no parents. Mom suffers from drug abuse and I have never met my father. Because of this, my grandmother had to raise my sister and I on a social security check, which proved to be difficult for my family. I wrote a really good essay that described my overcoming of adversity instead of a simple sob story.
Activities:
-Member of Young Republicans Club
-President of Spanish Club
-President of Philosophy Club
-Academic Team member
-Vice President of History Club
-Member of National English Honor Society
-Member of School Newspaper
As far as community service, I took up tutoring in History/Spanish and have a moderate amount of volunteer hours at a church food drive
I do suffer from a slightly low GPA and test scores, but I feel like my strong points are my extracurricular activities, essays, recommendations (I am very close to my teachers) and character/background. My SAT is troubling because I want to try to increase my score by 200-300 points, which is very difficult), but I also feel as if applying early might help me better. As far as Wake Forest acceptances and priorities go, what are my chances of admission? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
