At what colleges do I get the best possible education AND find the hottest guys?

Lol.

Thx for the compliment and then the put down.

I'm not shallow. Just because I haven't met someone I'm attracted to doesn't mean that I'm shallow and it doesn't mean that I'm looking for the unattainable. I don't have too much control over who I have chemistry with and I just haven't met one of those people thus far. Aesthetics are most definitely not the most important thing, but since this thread is discussing the attractiveness of individuals at universities, that's what my focus here has been. Doesn't mean that it's the only thing I consider.

And kids, let's remember, I'm not the one in this thread who said that she was looking for "Abercrombie style guys". So yknow. Just saying.

Sorry for the put down. I was just amazed to see WHY someone like you might have such a big problem.

I'm a freshman at Penn State and there are loads of good looking people here.

What is wrong with you people? Stop hitting on girls on internet forums, it's creepy as hell.

what the hell....i'm not hitting on her. I just said she looked very attractive thats all. If I asked her to be my facebook friend and added her to aim, then i'd be hitting on her. Jeez!!!

At the risk of being misinterpreted...

But I'm not even saying that I can't GET a guy, I'm just saying that there literally AREN'T ANY HOT GUYS. It's a problem.

[/quote]

Well have I got the solution for you! Come to New York, I'll show you around :)

(and the cats comment cracked me up... when guys throw in the towel like that, do they buy a big couch and a keg delivery service?)

More on topic, the suggestion for UCSB was probably a good one, if the academics suit her. Like I said, you really can't go wrong with Cali, especially socal. BC would also be a good suggestion at least for the academics... assuming irish catholics suit her (and yes i know they're not ALL irish catholics, but I mean, I grew up around Newton, let's not kid ourselves...).

dont lol at MIT guys, I'll kill you.

True, she didn't give her "preferences", but I can't imagine anyone from Scandinavia finding Irish catholics "hot".

[/offending more people]

I know my post seems really superficial and immature, but face the facts; I've never lived in America and therefore don't know anything about different colleges’ reputation. Sure, I have books (but they basically just write about the academics), ranking lists and a close American friend (a freshman), but I still don't know which schools that are catholic, have a good reputation but is not a ivy, where there are only Birkenstock-wearing people, no partyscene what so ever, hot guys etc. Things most Americans just know.. I know it’s extremely generalizing, but I need something to go on so when I'm in America a month from now, I know what colleges I want to visit.

Preferences? Well, like most Swedes I go to church about, hmm.. twice a year (I'm a protestant), but I certainly don't mind if others want to go more often. I'm kind of the typical Swedish girl (apparently we are hot - but I let others decide for them selves), more into Polo than eh.. Birkenstock (?). I'm openminded and certainly not looking for a college where everyone is preppy, although that is the people I'm used to being around, and might find easier to socialize with (not that I have difficulties socializing with others…). But, what’s important is that the school has a good reputation, I'm not going all the way to America to get in to a so-so school.

Thanks guys..

The fact of the matter is, no matter where you go youll find attractive people. Look for a school that suits you academically.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm afraid almost everyone at the "hidden ivies" will be total nerds and really unattractive…

Then go to a top state school.

But they are all so big.. I want to go to a small (but not tiny..) or mediumsized college, am I annoying or what..

Yes, quite.

Vanderbilt is for you. ~6000 undergrad, located in Nashville, TN. Generally preppy style, high-ranked academically (~20th in the US News rankings), known for a work-hard, play-hard attitude. I have a friend who goes there and absolutely loves it. The campus itself is quite beautiful, as well. The caveat? It's about $48000 a year.

A Swede:

Check out the University of Virginia (UVA). Founded by Thomas Jefferson, it;s a school of immense tradition. The campus is rated as one of the most beautiful in U.S., if not THE most beautiful. Girls are gorgeous here, so are guys! The guys here are Polo ralph lauren and Lacoste style, not really into abercrombie. The thing is: UVa guys are too classy to wear abercrombie. Lots of rich, good looking guys, I think it'll be perfect for you.

For academics, the second best public school just behind UC-Berkeley. Some years, it's tied with Berkeley. Academics is incredible, especially liberal arts. Medium size school too. Tuition isn;t that bad.

Go there, pledge a sorority, and get the boy of your dream.

for the people who are gonna critize me for being shallow, i wanna clarify that im just trying to help her out.

Sheesh. You all are so superficial.

A Swede- check out Colgate. Definitely one of the best looking bunches here as many of them play sports.... and you're already used to the weather :)

Apply to colleges that request an "optional" picture of you. Those include U-Penn and Georgetown. I haven't run into any others yet.

lo-****ing-l, do any of you people ever go visit friends or anything at other schools?

No, they just sit around telling each other how hot they are.

/rimshot

A Swede - the echoes for Vanderbilt and UVA are spot on. Add Duke to your list. All 3 are within sane driving distance of each other, if you're planning a tour. Wake Forest is worth looking into too.

I just went up and visited Penn which I guess some would say could give you a deeeecent education, and I thought the guys up there were pretty hot.

University of Tennessee = Cute Boys EVERYWHERE! Haha. It's definately a plus. And depending on what programs and majors your interested in, we have some really good ones. :)

jennyanne89: "I just went up and visited Penn which I guess some would say could give you a deeeecent education, and I thought the guys up there were pretty hot."

thats because of the "optional picture" attachment in Penn's application. lol
