Athletic Chances

What kind of "passes" do Yale admissions offer athletes? I have seen a lot of talk in the forum that athletes tend to be the dumbest on campus. Would a hs student who excelled in football with a 2.8 gpa and no SAT scores, an 18 on the ACT, and little to no ec's have a chance for admission to yale just based on the fact that he/she is an athlete?

Absolutely not. First off, you would have to get your GPA and test scores higher. Yale is more concerned about academics than athletics. The school also recruits less than the other Ivy League schools. There is an article about it somewhere online.

ABSOLUTELY NOT is correct. See: <a href=“Before Athletic Recruiting in the Ivy League, Some Math - The New York Times”>Before Athletic Recruiting in the Ivy League, Some Math - The New York Times;

“Perhaps the most talked about goal of the A.I.[Academic Index] is the academic credential minimum it establishes, a number below which virtually no Ivy League recruit can be admitted. This summer, that floor was raised from an Academic Index of 171 to 176, which roughly translates to a B student (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) with a score of 1140 on the old two-part SAT.”
