Athletic Dept Gray Card Through Admissions?

Does anyone know the significance of a coach asking an applicant to submit a 'Gray Card' to the Admissions Dept along with the app?

The card is addressed back to the Athletics Dept, so it only passes through Admissions.

Don't think DIII coaches have pull with Admissions, so assuming it's just for statistics purposes.

Thanks.

yea i had to send one in too.....idk what it was for, my (hopefully future) coach told me to send it in ASAP

maybe it lets admission kno u r doing a sport? who knows.

Any thoughts on this?

It can help you out. One of my buddies met with the football coach prior to applying and had a really positive encounter. By all means the guy was an outstanding candidate for CMU (and pulled superb grades while attending), but he told me the coach told him not to worry about getting in since he'd put in a good word for him in admissions.

i definitely think being an athlete helped me get in, but i have no idea what a gray card is.

The gray card is a gray postcard that the coach sends to a recruit. My son also received a red envelope from the coach that he was supposed to use to submit his application. The gray card was supposed to be included in the red envelope with the application. The admission dept. sends the gray card to the coach to let the coach know that your application has been received. A coach really can help you to get admitted.
