Athletic Recruiting

Just out of curiosity, what are all of your impressions of the athletic-recruiting process at the Ivies these days? Do you think it makes a difference, or are sports just another extracurricular on the resume?

Comments, anyone?

Gawd! Answer me! Someone!

i think recruited athletes deserve to get recruited because if your really good at something, one of the bests, then you should be able to play for one of the best teams. It's like if you want to study something, your most likely going to wnat to study it at one of the best places to do it at.

I think it makes a big difference and it good be the factor that decides if you get in or not!

If you’re really good it will help.

Tell that to the kid in my junior class who was already accepted last fall (beginning of our senior year) into Princeton for a certain sport. They told him to please get an 1800 on his SAT so that they could accept him in good faith. As of this past Saturday, when he took the test for the 5th time (I kid you not), he had yet to reach that goal. He’s dropped out of all but one or two honors/AP classes he enrolled in.

But he’s actually a nice kid, so I’m happy for him, although I do have to chuckle a bit with bitterness at it all. Lol
