I am a recruited athlete and I have never even considered Chicago for academical reasons. My stats: a 3.56 unweighted and 3.97 weighted. Lots of AP and Honors five Aps next year. Only 1900 on SAT 660M, 610C, 630W - retake in October. Tons of EC and I mean tons! English as a second Language. The coach says I have a good chance (he really wants me to come), but what do you guys think. Am I a resonable canidate?

What is your sport? S didn't get the feeling that the coach in his sport had a ton of pull, but it was fairly early on in the process when S visited. It is a DIII school, but your coach may have enough pull to get you in.

Tennis is the sport I am interested in.

You should definitely apply. I was recruited to chicago and what happens is the coach puts something in your admissions file and the committee does give it some significant weight. It doesn't necessarily mean you are a shoe in like at some of the ivies but it really helps (Yale coach said all i needed was 1100 SATs and 3.0 grade point average). The coach will actually know if you got in before you do. Good luck.
