Anyone know if there is an ATM on Fordham's Rose Hill campus or what is the nearest bank? Want to set up checking account for son. Thanks.

There actualy are ATMs on campus. I took a tour last week and saw ATMs right next to the book store and cafeteria.

I believe it's a Commerce ATM they have in McGingley center.

Assuming he's going to be going out a lot, Chase bank has the most locations in NYC. There are quite a couple of Chase Banks near Fordham University. The closest one is about two blocks away off campus.

I only mention that because I would never take out money from an ATM that's going to charge me money to take out money. A debit card and a online account will do wonders in managing money. Makes it a lot easier to travel without cash since almost all places take debit nowadays.

Yes, the ATM in the McGinley Center is through Commerce Bank. There's also a branch right across from campus on Fordham Rd.

We set up a Commerce Bank account with a Visa Check Card (he can use it as an ATM and debit card) for S before he started at Fordham. We chose Commerce because: a) it has branches EVERYWHERE, including back home (we don't have Chase in VA, for example), and b) they don't charge for ATM withdrawals if you go out of network. Better still, if another bank's ATM charges for a withdrawal, Commerce will refund that fee to your account (maybe a minimum account balance for that, though).

They also have excellent customer service.

If our own finances weren't so firmly enmeshed in our local credit union, we would switch to Commerce in a minute.

Actually there are three. They are all TD North and they are located in McGinley Center, the Walsh Library, and Faculty Memorial Hall.

TD North bought Commerce bank early last year. S’s accounts moved smoothly over to TD North, and they still honor the no charge for out-of-network ATMS. The Commerce Bank on Fordham Rd. is now TD North.
