Atmosphere at temple, syracuse, and villanova

Could anyone give me some insight on the atmosphere of these schools. I'm looking for preppy, sporty, party, vanderbilt like schools, that also get it done academically, these are at the top of my list.

I know villanova has that atmosphere but im unsure of syracuse or temple, visiting them is probably not an option though.

Thank you for your help

SWEET!!!! I love it when I get this many responses to my posts, its so invigorating!!!!

You'll def get the preppy sporty vibe at those schools. Didn't realize people use preppy as a positive criteria, but hey, whatever makes you happy. Acadmics at both schools are good, but a friend of mine from Syracuse says that people tend to put partying ahead of academics. Maybe that is just his view, but it seemed that way the one time I stayed over there for a few days. Not sure about Villanova, but, I heard it is quite preppy and pretentious. Obviously good with the whole sports thing. Temple, eh, I never recommend it after visiting for a day and seeing how unsafe the area really was.

Well obviously I am looking at academics over atmosphere, but I like the preppy elitest atmosphere because I have a god complex. (atleast I can admitt it:) )

yeah the area syracuse is in isn't that safe either. but they def have the whole athletics thing going on. i was there for like one night and it was actually pretty scary.. it seemed like everyone in the whole surrounding neighborhood was getting stabbed or something.

Nova is your best chance...the buildings are bad though, except the business building.

what the hell is a god complex

you won't get that vibe at temple at all. Villanova sounds like what you want.

But beware of the stereotypes that I've found to be true: Villa-nowhere, Villa-no fun and Vanilla-nova.

Villa-nowhere: It's in a suburb..not the best college town.

Villa-no fun: Soooooo true.

Vanilla-nova: All you see is white people.

Temple is plenty safe. Nova is in a nice area and seems like what you want.

Temple is plenty safe but I think it's full of ****. I'm a freshman here.

---now that that's out of the way:

Uh, there are plenty of alcohol-involved parties every night of the week, but Temple hardly "gets it done academically."

^^^ Which is why the only reason I'd transfer is for Fox.

I disagree with steeephhhh23. I live in a suburb of Syracuse and the campus area is great. Syracuse is kind of situated on a hill over the majority of the city, so in terms of the greater city--yeah there are areas that aren't great but then again that's every city. The campus isn't a nice perfect shape, so outside the quad and main buildings it gets more suburban and closer to "bad neighborhoods" as you might call it but the campus is very safe. I think Syracuse sounds look a good fit for you.

Syracuse has the atmosphere you are looking for. Lots of preppy, rich people. Lots of parties. Good sports (ok not football, but kick-ass basketball and lacrosse). And it isn't dangerous unless you are a complete idiot who decides to wander blocks off campus at 4 AM.

Syracuse def has more spirit than Temple or Nova, though. Even with a sucky football team we can pack 40,000 people in the dome, and basketball games are second to none (SU set the NCAA all-time basketball attendance record recently, 33,000 plus went to G-mac's last home game).
